  • How does the Church prove a marriage isn't consummated? Is there a sort of canonical definition of virginity?

Isn't this important since ratum non consummatum marriages can be dissolved by the Pope? Or are there other conditions for ratum non consummatum marriages?

  • If the two parties state that it wasn't consumated and no children were born from the marriage then you probably have to take their word. Remember the declaration you make in these types of investigatiions is your word to God.

  • Something I've wondered about is, if a couple consummated their relationship sometime before marriage, repented and behaved themselves, and then got married, but didn't consummate it afterwards, does the earlier peccadillo count as consummation if they ever sought annulment?

And if you're willing to jeopardize your soul with a blasphemous perjury (mortal sin), why bother with an annulment? If eternity is of no concern, just "shack up" already.

WHY do you waste your time wondering about such things? Does it really affect you or someone very close to you? Chances are, it's just unchecked curiosity and prurient interest.

This whole thread is about prurient interest -- which is why I'm locking it.
This isn't that kind of forum.
