  • TRADITIONALLY.  When families join a Church they fill out a form, they are parishioners or congregants.  "Patrons" sounds modernist to me.  Also as soon as money is in that collection basket, the people are members.

Traditionally, the "new"  family are contacted and Priest blesses home.  Etc.

Anything else ain't catholic -- you Jackals.  Hypocrits.  You are a disgrace to Archbishop Lefebvre name.

People are leaving sspx and the Catholic Church because of fake and phoney Catholics.

Excellent priests and homilies but many jackals in Philadelphia.
And they wonder why priests come and go????

Too much drama in the Catholic Church, resistance and sspx.
Do you really think that you will be the remnant?

Most likely you and your spoiled brats will burn in Hell for being Philadelphia- NJ hypocrites.

Is this your position, or is this a quote that you're riled up about?  If it's a quote, who said it and where?

Why do you say "fake and phoney [sic]" Catholics?

  • I think this whole thread is some kind of sour grapes and/or axe-grinding thread.

I'd like to know what this is REALLY about.

I do my best to understand you but you still mystify and I want to know why?

Do you think you have to be cruel to be kind in the right measure?  Is cruel to be kind a very good sign?

    .

That sounds like a normal sspx chapel.

What happens if you wanted to get married or extreme unction?

No ax to grind or sour grapes.

    Just justified anger.

That is part of the problem when Catholics are mistreated and ostracized by other Catholics.  It creates a hostile and unholy environment.

  • It would be helpful if the OP would do us the favor of specifying just what in the hell he is talking about.

This. It seems like he has an axe to grind with some, but I'm not terribly sure.

  • To whom it may concern,

When I started going to the SSPX I came over from an indult. No forms to fill out and no-one verifying a donation. After a month or so Father sent  someone to ask me to come talk to him (I have a large family and I assume that's how he noticed as our church is pretty full). Father asked a few questions concerning where we attended before and what my plans were. Years later I've since filled out a parish registration but still no donation envelopes in little boxes with everyone's name on them.

    God bless,
    JoeZ

  • Recently, the SSPX priest at my church asked people to fill out a form with their information on it, so that it would be easier to make house calls, send out emergency notifications and so on. I'm not sure why the OP would be upset about it being called a patronage because as we all know, SSPX operates outside the diocesan system and therefore has no claim to be a parish.

There could always be an ulterior motive I suppose, but remember you are not required to give out your info.

Does anybody else feel like a personal spat is being aired (or perhaps contrived)?

. I have no ulterior motive. In fact, as a Catholic I want the true Mass and Sacraments to expand.  I have no problems with the priest. It is a good thing that he is cleaning up the chapel.   I have a problem with being ostracized and shunned by these "patron" lay people and holier then thou patrons.  Including those hypocrites who are living a double life.  Divorced people, etc.       I'm not a patron.  I'm a Roman Catholic.

If a family isn't a "patronage" until they are sent a  census  card, then they should be refunded their tithing that was placed in the collection basket during Mass prior being sent the census card.
Normally, when a family fills out registration and attends Mass and places tithing in collection basket during Mass on a weekly basis, they are "patrons".   It lacks Christian charity and sinful to take money and mistreat people.

The only patrons I know are the ones who go to theatre, ballet, symphony or opera.

Philadelphia SSPX. In fact that Chapel has a history of strange activity. After all, it was called St Ciprian's before it was St Jude's.    Heard there was a priest who was even shot at...that is scary.   Priests come and go within 1 to 2 years.  A visiting priest gave a sermon about Christian charity.
I guess it went in one ear and the other.   The new priest is really a good priest.  The sermons are good. He makes Confession and Mass a priority.

Maybe I'm wrong for venting.  Maybe I should offer up my persecution up to God.
I Have to read that trad cats believe that novous ordo clergy and faiful including fssp are worse then terrorists from the Middle East. That is herectic talk.  Or hear that a priest up in Connecticut is being persecuted because he is former novous ordo.  That is mean. I'm glad I vented here instead of getting my Irish up after Mass.

There is a crisis in the Church because Catholics are persecuting one another.

I went to Confession and Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
