People might say its not a governments job to deal with this. How to counter it?

Correct their false conception of the duties of government.

The duty of the State is to preserve and uphold public Good. The family is the very nucleus of society - it is the social-hierarchical order in its most basic, constituent natural component. So protection of the public good in a society means first and foremost protection of the family. And God established - and made universally comprehensible in the Natural Law and our very biology - the pairing of man and woman in the generation and rearing of children. Each child needs and deserves a father and mother, for men and women have a complimentarity that starts in the biological sphere (physical generation of offspring) and continues in all other aspects, with each having strengths that compensate for the other's weaknesses. The wife nurtures and comforts; the father instructs and disciplines. The result is a child that grows into a well-formed adult, with a perfect innate knowledge of the roles and duties of each sex.

Children raised by two members of the same sex lack this formation and have a woefully underdeveloped understanding of the role and duty of the absent sex parent, much more so than children raised by single parents (where there is no second person "playing the part" of the missing opposite sex parent). And then there is the fact that children raised by sodomites are being raised by reprehsible perverts of the very worst kind, who - despite their protestations to the contrary - are much more likely to indulge in pederasty than non-sods are (the very founder of the sodomite "rights" movement - Harry Hay - was an open and avowed pederast who saw the two perversions as inexorably linked). Sins of the flesh darken the intellect, and this cannot but have a wickedly deleterious effect on a child raised by such habitul violators of Natural Law.

Sodomites are self-serving narcissists of the worst kind, incapable of true love, and allowing them to raise an innocent child is objectively criminal and suicidal to society as a whole, whose good it is the duty of the State to uphold.
