Help my scruples please

    • In a parking lot today, accidentally dinged someone’s car door. Small ding. Freaked out, no one was there, and I left without leaving any information. I don’t know whose car it was. Not a sin? Venial sin? Mortal sin?

    It could not be grave, since

    1) No grave matter;

    2) No intent to do the damage.

    Yes, you should have left your info, but not even close to mortal.

    Thank you. Yes that’s true, it’s not a smashed windshield or broken engine or some such thing. Just a minor cosmetic reality.

    • There are probably a dozen dings on most car doors just from ordinary parking; just comes with the territory when driving.

    Seeing as how we will be judged on how we've treated/judged others, I guess you can look forward to 1,000 years in purgatory being added to your own purification.

    • Remember there is no such a thing as time in eternity, Purgatory is purifying your soul so it will be beautiful when presented to the Divine Majesty.

    If you are worried about the "time" spent there, consider the seventh promise to those who propagate the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary which the Seventh promise is:  "those who propagate the entire devotion to my tears  will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness."
