Malachias 4:6
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers: lest I come, and strike the earth with anathema.
[6] "He shall turn the heart": By bringing over the Jєωs to the faith of Christ, he shall reconcile them to their fathers, viz., the partiarchs and prophets; whose hearts for many ages have been turned away from them, because of their refusing to believe in Christ.-- Ibid.
[6] "With anathema": In the Hebrew, Cherem, that is, with utter destruction.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children,
Ask and forgive

and the heart of the children to their fathers:
Ask and forgive,

lest I come, and strike the earth with anathema.

Ask and forgive are imperitive commands, and they are how to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.  There are no two words that can do that as well as these.

Asking is for turning, forgiving is for the heart.
