  • Do American Catholics, especially trads, still indulge in butchering their sons with non-medical circuмcision. Clearly a Jєωιѕн practise and against the Fifth Commandment? Is this still common?

  • Oh probably. But the term “traditionalist” also doesn’t mean much any more, either. A mortal sin, but the Jєω-washed pew sitters care neither about sin or the effects of this barbaric practice.

Is it really a mortal sin though?  Besides, how can you call it barbaric if it was literally declared by our Lord in the Old Testament?

What was done in the Old Testament was a little cut, not ripping off a large chunk of flesh.
Also: the Council is Jerusalem (available in chapter 15 of the Acts of the Apostles) forbade it because of Baptism. To practice it now as a Christian is to practice another religion, ie a mortal sin.

  • Ritual Circuмcision is forbidden strictly. See Laeteran IV, I think.

Medical circuмcision is not the same thing at all, nor is it done for the same reasons. It's like the difference between piercing your ear and lopping it off.

That being said, it's a fraudulent and mutilative practice which generations of people, including Catholics, have been conned into thinking has medical benefits. It shouldn't be done and the word should be spread, but for these reasons, not because it's the same as ritual Circuмcision (which it substantively isn't).
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

That would be my instinct as well ... but for the fact that God commanded it to be done, so I don't think it could be that bad/wrong.  Much less would He have subjected Our Lord to it.

  • Ha, not for polite company to talk about what the Rabbis do at the time of their circuмcising.

It’s not polite and not appreciate for women to discuss the physical side but it is a manifestation of Gods wish for cleanliness and it is generally regarded as helping in the fight against self abuse.
