  • I am and I have wasted the last 5 years of my life spending all of my free time watching TV news channels and reading about politics online. Does anyone have advice on how I can beat it?

  • Yes.

Set your PC to use OpenDNS.com for your DNS servers. That will allow you to block websites for your computer.
You can change the password to something complicated and lock the password behind a physical key -- or something equivalent.

There are ways to beat this measure if you really want to, but it certainly helps you to avoid the distraction. I was wasting too much time following play-by-play on politics as well -- I'm getting WAY more done now each day.

  • It's not necessarily "time wasted".  Taking an interest in the social order is a good thing, though "all your free time..." does concern me.  Could you find some other interests as well as this one?  Maybe daily Mass, the Rosary, and works of charity?

All things in moderation, to be sure, but you might consider going to college and getting a degree in political science, that is, assuming you don't already have one.  If it's something you like that much, you might want to make it your life's work.  I don't know your circuмstances, just throwing that out there.

  • I was not addicted but at about an hour or so a day, I followed mostly conservative but some MSM news way too much for my own sanity. Some time before the scamdemic, I just stopped watching news altogether. I will try for the local weather on the local channels once in a while, but I can rarely even do that anymore because even at that. they manage to be broadcasting lie after lie right before the weather. I hate it. You should learn to hate it too, hating it makes turning it completely off a great joy to be rid of.

  • I never watch the "news", the "news" today is all propaganda, the mainstream media is the Propaganda Ministry. I get my news from the people on CI and friends. No one who lived in a communist country believed the news. Americans are suckers for the propaganda, but they are learning.

  • Most of the media is deliberate fake news. They get highly paid to lie. Their chief purpose is to spread
propaganda, destroy peoples reputations that disagree with the official narrative that is usually a lie
and misinformation. Also they deliberately cause racial hatred and conflict.

  • I listen mostly to YouTube videos for current events commentary from independent sources.  I prefer to follow the financial news rather than political.

Recently I've been listening to videos from old Fatima conferences (5+ years old) and I am stupefied at how chillingly accurate the predictions were.  Things that didn't make sense to me back them are crystal clear now.
