More companies pull ads to pressure Fox News over Sean Hannity
More companies are yanking their support for Sean Hannity’s television show, since the host has come under fire for several weeks over his reporting on the fatal shooting of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich. By midday Thursday, Crowne Plaza Hotels, Cars.com, Ring.com, Leesa Mattress, Peloton indoor bicycles and Casper have declared that they will not advertise on Hannity, which airs weeknights on the Fox News Channel. While authorities have called Rich’s murder a robbery gone wrong, Hannity has been suggesting that the DNC worker might have been killed because he leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks. On Wednesday, the conservative host said he would no longer talk about Rich’s death.
There was an error which led to our ads running during certain opinion-based programs, and as soon as that was discovered, the error was corrected.
USAA statement
Financial services firm USAA added itself to the list of companies that have pulled advertising from Hannity’s show. But the company, which caters to members of the U.S. military and their families, says the move had nothing to do with pressure on Hannity’s advertisers. USAA said Thursday that it has a policy not to advertise on any opinion-based programing.
