  • So...because a co-worker left without giving any notice, i will probably be asked to sign a form that asserts that I provided services to a client for a whole month even though I only provided these services for about 1/3 to 1/2:the month (while I stepped in for co-worker).

Can i sign it? Or is this lying?

  • I have to imagine there's a way to amend the form that communicates that the client was serviced for a month; partially by your co-worker, partially by you.
    .
If there isn't, then I'm not sure if it would be lying, but for your own sake and protection it would be best that it communicated that you were not responsible for the entirety of the service (e.g. suppose a complaint is filed for this time period and it fell into your co-workers "half" of the service).
    .
If there's not a way to amend it, maybe just put a note by your signature with the beginning and end date of the service you provided.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

This is a really good idea.  Now I will have to see if they'll go for it because the form deals with the government and I may not be able to amend it nor qualify it.  Thank you.

THIS ^^^.  Have them reword it in the passive voice:  "the client was served for month either by
    • or by [y]"  And you can sign it.  If they need a signature for y, have a supervisor sign it.  People leave companies all the time.  By saying that YOU personally provided the service the entire month, that could actually be considered a fraudulent statement and get your company  in trouble.

If they give you a hard time, just pull a Pilate on them: "quod scripsi, scripsi." :)

  • Thanks everyone.  Just wanted to let you know that it turned out that they created two separate forms, so I only had to sign one that showed the time I actually provided services.

LOL ... that is one of the best lines in Scripture ... and one can almost visualize the implied obscene hand gesture directed at the whining Jєω.
