I like it when Frances posts a dancing banana :dancing-banana: in front of every comment
-
I think it serves to identify her posts- when I notice a dancing banana I am pretty sure I want to read that particular post, because I think she often has good insights.
-
:dancing-banana:I like the :dancing-banana:!

Doesn't her name already do that?

The d.b. has been adopted as my avatar, not as a showy plea for attention. If anyone can tell me in English, (not computerese) how to acquire and post an avatar, I will gladly put the dancing banana to rest.

I will miss the dancing banana.

Just go to your control panel and select Edit Avatar, from there you have several choices. I recommend uploading a pix from your hd.
:pc:
-
Did it work? What's my hd?
-
:dancing-banana: :thinking:Oh well! Looks like the db stays for now. Maybe it can't be done from a tablet? Because that's all I have.

Fi
First save the picture you want to use on your hard drive maybe save it to your desktop so it's easy to find.
Then select upload from my hard drive.
Hit the browse button and it will allow you to look into your hard drive.
Select the picture that you saved on your desktop and upload that one.
Hopefully it works, right now I don't see an avatar under your name.
-
IDK how to do it from the tablet.
Your best bet is to use a link from the Internet I know you have that option in edit avatar.
I hope that works, if not, the dancing banana stays.
Hooray!

I would appreciate Frances much more if she did not have those irritating dancing bananas on every post. The only thing the dancing banana accomplishes is to further trivialize her rather mediocre thoughts.
That is how it appears.
-
You know, there are a lot more serious things in the world to worry about than this...
I retract my earlier posts against Francis' dancing banana.
Dance away.
-
keep the dancing banana, francis, its part of who you are now
-
:dancing-banana:Many of my posts aren't serious. Sometimes I go on CI for fun. Besides, readers would soon come to hate my new avatar. :dancing-banana:

I dislike all "smilies" and emoticons, so to that extent and that extent only the anonymous guest has a point.
The only thing the dancing banana accomplishes is to further trivialize her rather mediocre thoughts.
That someone would call Frances's thinking mediocre in this subforum, the ultimate CI outpost for idiocy and immaturity, underlines the extent to which ignorance and adolescent conformity have become its guiding principles.
I do not always agree with this lady—and I suspect she has far graver reservations about me and my comments—but she is one of CI's few true assets. Since the asset count hereabouts hovers precariously on the border between two digits and one, her disappearance from the scene would constitute a substantial blow to the site.
-
I like Frances. And I like the dancing bananas.

Hmm... well... I fixed it for you anyway.
It just needed the "http://" added to the url.
-
:dancing-banana:
Thanks! What does the http mean, anyway? I still like the banana, so there's no reason why the crab can't have a friend. Maybe a dozen or so have just figured out who is Frances.

You know, threads like this are an abuse of the Anonymous subforum.
Allow me to demonstrate:
Good:
"I'm having difficulty following my husband. What should I do?"
"Any good home remedies for warts?"
"How to lose weight when you're already 350 pounds"
Bad:
"Am I the only one annoyed with Matthew's posts?"
"What's the deal with Icterus?"
"Who besides me wishes Frances would ditch the dancing banana?"
There is no way I'd ever consider shutting down this subforum, because it would mean uprooting the wheat with the cockle. No, I'll just moderate the subforum as usual, and if a few pieces of cockle escape my attention, then I guess it will be matter for the Judgement like everything else.
I hope everyone realizes they're not completely anonymous here. I can still look up who you are, plus let's not forget that God sees all. So this is not to be used as a cloak for malice!
I'm not going to look up "who has warts", but if someone needs disciplinary action (up to and including banning) I won't hesitate to look up who posted something here.
So behave yourselves!
(Sheesh, I feel like I'm dealing with my little kids here...)

Enthusiastically seconded.

Now I shall never abandon the dancing banana.
-
I wonder why Matthew got rid of the dancing pot-smoking banana.
-
One illegal-in-most-places substance-consuming smilie is enough.

I would like to add:
Whoever has the free time to worry about Frances' bananas needs to
Get a life
Get a hobby
and
Get a job!
Because I, for one, would not even have the time to worry about it. I have too many projects and important things going on. Namely: earning a living, raising a family, nursing several home businesses, and creating things in general.
Even those who don't have families yet could still do all the other things I'm doing. Why not? Go study, work, start a business, something! I taught myself Japanese and started a very popular video game/anime/Japanese website when I was 20-23. Amazing what you can do when you're single.
