Former Catholic Family Member Evangelical Baptism

    • A family member of mine that left the Catholic Church a long time ago has now joined an evangelical church and invited me to her baptism in this community.

    I said that I could not come to the baptism because 


    • she already is baptized
    • my attendance would indicate my approval of the evangelical church

    Was that correct or did I say anything wrong?

    • Yes, you are doing the right thing to stay away.

    Your family member will be guilty of sacrilege at the very least.  You cannot take part in that.

    • You did the right thing. Not only will the "baptism" be sacrilegious, your attendance would be an (at least implicit) approval of her apostasy and now adherence to a false religion

    • Stay away, no cards, give no approval.  The invitation is a trial run to see how you will react.  KAB Knowledge Attitude behavior.  Communism uses this KAB.  You can use  this: Your knowledge tells you the baptism she had, catholic, was correct, and what she is doing now is wrong, against the True God. So, your attitude is, I don't agree with this person.  Behavior= I don't attend.  If your family member asks, " oh, why can't you come?  You answer KAB. Knowledge this baptism is not to remove original sin, and your baptism as a catholic, that is not good enough?! Attitude: I am disappointed in your actions/thoughts, Behavior: Pity you and pray for your conversion.  Don't hold back.  If the family member asks about your actions, be ready to defend the True Faith of Jesus Christ!  This is your chance to speak up and others may just follow your efforts to defend!

    • You have a duty to not attend and to stay firm in your resolve.  You explained the reason why truthfully.  You may be the only person in her life who cares enough to be honest.  And do not acknowledge this "new religion" in words, deeds, no social media likes, etc.  Don't ask how it went.  

    As stated by others, your attendance is an act of apostasy with possible automatic excommunication.  

    You are not alone in having to cut off family members who are practicing heresy or apostasy.  I cut off my own mother the last years of her life do to occultism.  She literally died alone in a hospital room, choosing her way over God's truth.

    • I wouldn’t go. If you do so, it’s saying that you agree Catholic baptism is without effect. Don’t start a fight. Just matter of factly explain and decline the invite. Don’t send her a card or attend any celebration afterwards.
