  • Do anyone know who Father Matthew OSB is?  I saw his name on the SSPX bulletin for Mass and confessions this coming Sunday and I have never heard of him before.

Just wanted to make sure he was not one of the novus ordo come-overs (not conditionally ordained)...

Is it SSPX affiliate or does the Diocese have any oversight? Can't find much history aside from the website page

  • The abbot Fr. Cyprian has probably been on excellent friendly terms with NeoSspx since 1991.
The saying goes: The monk who observes the monastic rule WILL go to heaven...altitude 7000 ft. surrounded by a desert forest. Lightning bolts are a problem.
This monastery roasts coffee and sells it for the general public. They have a video of their factory. Interestingly, they get most of the raw coffee beans from + Tomas Aquinas, OSB. down there in Brazil. Coffee aroma trumps any resistance to modernism.

  • Unfortunlately, they're "fake monks" like the Dimond Brothers, since nobody with authority to do so actually founded them.  So we need to ferret out Cyprian's first name, is it Bill? ... and start calling him Father Bill (or whatever his real name is).  Right?

Fr. Mathew has been a priest for about 30 years. He was ordained by SSPX. He is not that well known in the US because he spent most of his time France. I first met him 28 years ago at the monastery.

It seems like he is not the Abbot rather the Prior of the Abbey.

  • After looking at the Newsletter, they seem to have no Abbot and only a Prior and they are under the oversight of the SSPX using SSPX Priests for Vows and Ordinations

Right ... the point is that they're not "real" Benedictines either.

I'm just exposing the attacks on the Dimond Brothers as nonsense rooted in contempt for them than in real Catholic principles.  Any who profess to live by the Rule of St. Benedict can call themselves Benedictines.  That Order has historically and traditionally been non-centralized and non-hierarchical.

  • OP here.

Thank you everyone very much for all of the information.   You have set my mind at ease about going to the Sacraments to this priest for this weekend.

    May God bless you!

I apologize for saying he was the "abbot"... I was naive to believe in the Brand of coffee they make: ABBEY ROAST. Just low dose deception, so naturally they get along with neoSspx.

Tbh it's a shame that they have to lie about it. They plaster all over the Website they are a Monastery not an Abbey.
