Fatima Center to close?

  • According to an employee at the Fatima Center, there was a board meeting last week.

Apparently according to this employee, Father Gruner's two sisters (NO)will be putting up for sale all assets held in Father Gruners name.

    There was no will.

This is all I was told.  Can anyone confirm?

  • That would be sad indeed.  I am shocked that he did not have some type of will or trust; plans of some sort in place to ensure the continuance of his work.

The facility doesn't have to be completely shut down before they can put things up for sale. Besides, you seem to be grinding some kind of axe. What are you trying to say exactly?

  • Here less me interpret it for you, Nameless.

Hollingsworth said that  this morning he drove by the Fatima Centre and it was still open.

Quite a drive. I'm pretty sure he lives on the other side of the continent.

  • Mater, I know neither where the Fatima Centre is nor where Hollingsworth lives. I just know what he wrote and it didn't seem a puzzle to me, but maybe it is!

  • I took that to be a message to Hollingsworth, not from him?

I do believe that's what that comment meant.  It was addressed to Hollingsworth. The writer is presuming H anonymously started this thread.
H doesn't strike me as the kind of man who does anything anonymously.

To the original message, in the Father Gruner RIP thread, someone who knows the family reported that +Fr G had no will.

  • I am the OP and I am NOT Hollingsworth.

Also, they are selling what is in Father's name.  The Fatima Center could be a corporation.

I had to re-read this, since a member is concerned and angry that this is rumor.

Is it bad will on the part of the OP to request confirmation of what would be important information, if true?  Surely yes, if this is false information, but there are specifics noted that would warrant a little probing.

Otherwise, as noted before, time will tell.

edit:  just saw OP's follow up comment. Corp status is easy to confirm, it's public domain.

OP here.  I am not a relative of Father Gruners, I do not sit on the board, I am not an employee.  The info posted was from an employee (one step up from a volunteer) so as the employee was not at the board meeting the info was 2nd hand and the posting was third hand.  I suppose you could classify that as rumour but then everything on the Father Gruner threads would also qualify as rumour.
I gave an employee a higher standing than everyone else who has no connection whatsoever.

My request for confimation was in case there was someone here with a closer connection.

  • While I don't know whether the rumor is true, I do know that the fatima.org website, which was down for a while is back up and in operation as of Sunday night, 7:47 pm, EDT.

  • Perhaps in some way this is a ploy to just get more money from widows?

:scared2: "Oh... there is a chance the business may close unless you pay a big part of your life's savings now," type thing.
