Father Daniel Couture, Superior of the Asian District of the Society of Saint Pius X (FSSPX / SSPX), sent an appeal to his priests and faithful, which inclluded this:
"It is certain that the Pope is imbued with liberal principles. Cardinal Daniélou himself and his friend Jean Guitton, both affirm this. This deplorable influence seems sufficient to explain the unfortunate incoherence and contradictions coming from the Pope and his circle. However, if that forbids us to follow him when he speaks or acts in an erroneous manner, it must not lead to disrespect or contempt, for he sits on the throne of Peter. We must pray for him, so that he teaches the Truth and works exclusively towards re-establishing the reign of Our Lord."
So...
Let us all be little popes and tell the big pope when he is wrong. Let the little popes lead the big pope when they think it is warranted. Let the little popes follow the big pope when they want if they think he is right on any particular issue. Let the little popes who know their faith decide when big pope is in error. What is the need for big pope if the little popes are the ones who decides when they will follow or when they will tell big pope what he should be doing? What sort of big pope is that? What about the guarantee that the Church and big pope can't teach errors?
