Family group on whatsapp

    • I am looking for advice so I can decide whether or not to join.

    My eldest brother asked me and another brother to consider whether our family should use start a family whatsapp group “so everyone can get news at the same time.” 

    I am the black sheep and most opinions I have the rest have the opposite view. They are all N.O. I prefer email or phone, and I have never downloaded an app as I and my spouse feel uneasy about them.

    My brother said it can be downloaded onto my smartphone. (I don’t have one only a simple mobile for dummies.)

    Does anyone have any advice or comments.

    I have not a smartphone either.

    More often than not, these groups will result in fights amongst family members. At best, you will waste a lot of time on useless things.

    A lot of people are amazed when I say that I don't have a smartphone, and some of them even say that this is a very good thing, even though they themselves have one and use it during the whole day.

    • Going low contact with them would be the best. Joining the Whatsapp group or any group chat would be a bad idea because of the chance of gossip and people ganging up on you. You would just be really stressed. You and your spouse don't need to participate in this family drama.

    • I use to have whatsapp on computer. Got off family groups really quickly then off the whole thing altogether.
    There's something about this app that is worse than the others.
    I agree with others to stay off it. You won't gain anything by being on it.

    Can you or anyone please explain to me what is not good about any app.
    Can you explain what it is that makes what'sapp worse?
