Fake vaccine cards

    • Given the grave circuмstances surrounding this pandemic, and the increasing potential for it to impact those with families to support, could one licitly procure a fake vaccine card?

    I am unsure if this falls into the category of grave sin or venial sin, or merely a reservation.

    Yeah, that's the problem. I don't want to sin to keep my earthly goods. But I have to be able to support my family. Kind of like the idea of the starving man stealing bread.
    They've really got us cornered into a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation here.

    • During the Roman persecutions, the Christians who procured fake "idolatry" cards which said they committed idolatry, even thought they didn't actually engage in idolatry, were considered apostates.

    • Time to build connections. A lot of worse jobs are not going to require proof of vaccination. Be prepared to to odd jobs or "menial" (not my word, society's. I am uneducated and only work these) work. The maxim "collapse now and avoid the rush" is something to think about here. Stay true to your faith and make the sacrifices needed now so you are prepared and your family is situated around your new financial reality. You can do this, God is not going to start shouldering us with the impossible.

    Yeah, that's a good point. I'm going to run the religion exemption as far as I can with this, but I'll have to go elsewhere if it comes down to it.

    Right, but, this is less a matter of saying one participated in overt religious worship than it is merely forging medical records.

    Because showing the card is an act of manifest apostacy.
    Showing a fake vaccine card isn't. It can't be worse than a venial sin, since it's not grave matter. There is no virus.
    Have your wife fake the card. And don't say "I'm vaccinated" when you show it. She doesn't sin, since she doesn't use it. You don't lie, you just bluff with no duty not to deceive .

    • The most cogent argument for the sinfulness of receiving these shots is that they give grave scandal by leading others to believe you and the Church are okay with aborting children in order to further medical research.  Using fake docuмentation would give scandal in the same exact way.  And it doesnt matter if its "only a venial sin!"  We should all rather die than commit the slightest venial sin, and should never make light of violating God's law.  

    This being the case, I have heard the argument that since Catholic Churchmen are in disagreement about this and the traditional moral manuals make no explicit mention of it, the idea of the shot being scandalous is merely an opinion amongst others which need not be held...  but still, if one is convinced that the vaccine itself is scandalous to receive - so convinced that they refuse to take it - then it seems to me the same scandal would prevent them from using a forged card.  

    Now if your reason not to receive it is solely based on the imprudent risks involved, or the argument concerning cooperation in the SIn of murder... then it's another question.
