Notes: Fr. Joseph A. Colletti was ordained in 1971 as a priest of the Diocese of Lafayette. In 1990, Fr. Colletti was removed from public ministry. His faculties were withdrawn in 2004. Despite Fr. Colletii’s purported agreement to not attempt to function as or present himself as a priest, the Diocese of Lafayette, in Indiana, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops learned that he had represented himself as a priest in Illinois and Southern California, and had been saying mass in California since 2015. Based on an announcement by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, it is believed that Fr. Colletti may still be residing in Southern California and spending time in Illinois visiting his family. In 2018, Fr. Colletti was named on the Diocese of Lafayette’s list of “Diocesan Priests with Substantiated Allegations of sɛҳuąƖ Misconduct with Minors” and was in the process of being laicized by the Vatican.

  • I wonder why Fr. Perez didn't do a quick Google search before allowing such a person access to the congregations.

  • Tons of those out there.  That is why going to most independent chapels are dangerous to the soul.

Is this an "Old Catholic" chapel, or an independent chapel that admits the primacy of the Holy See, and either prays for Pope Francis if they are not sedevacantist, or omits that prayer if they are?  I honestly don't know.  Never heard of that chapel before.  Which bishop serves this chapel?  Is the "Old Catholic" part, just some Newchurch disinformation?

It is an independent chapel with the pre-1962 TLM. Under no bishop. They used to have a picture of the Pope in the entrance to the chapel, but none since Bergolio. Those who are sedes keep quiet about it.

I went to your link and found last Sunday's Mass.

Does anyone know who this person is? He says his name is Father Michael Wiest or Weist, but he will not show his drivers license, although he is alone training altar boys. Also someone checked out his Michigan license plate and ran a check that showed no such license plate. Also he does not exist on line. He says he is 48 or 58, can't seem to make up his mind. He said he met Fr. Perez in Rome and in the sermon linked above he has changed it to a tiny town on the way to Slovakia. He looks a lot like Bishop Fuiham, who died under odd circuмstances in 2017.

Any priest should not object to producing his driver's license, submitting to a complete background check (I'd go so far as to have a private detective run one, I spent $250 on one, for a person my son was going to be around a lot in his infancy), and saying who ordained him and when.  I've never understood why any priest objects to saying who ordained him.

    This has terrible optics.

I'd be interested to know if their Masses are una cuм or non una cuм, and which bishop comes there for confirmations, provides their oils, and so on.  It's a legitimate question.

  • "Laicized" does NOT make someone a "fake priest".

Laicized means a priest has been reduced to the CANONICAL status of a layman, but a PRIEST IS A PRIEST FOREVER.  Laicization does not "remove the priesthood" from a man.

Those who do not understand such matters should not just flippantly make such statements.  It is scandalous.

I don't know who called him a fake priest. It is important to remember that in this case, Colletti was facing charges of sɛҳuąƖ misconduct and agreed to never present himself as a priest.

Those needing to be confirmed go to a SSPX chapel.
