Title: Ever experience an evil or a "shadow person?"
Post by: Änσnymσus on April 13, 2014, 03:30:18 AM
Had to do work a couple years ago in a 100 year old home. Was a complete rewire job for an elderly woman with very bad wiring. She couldn't use rooms of the house because there was no power. Top it off she was a bit of a hoarder.

It was a job most pros would run from. It was a $21k job but I did it at 1/3 the cost because I needed the work at the time and nobody would touch this. Had to wait a year for the family to pay the whole amount.

Needed a respirator most of the time not just because of the dirt, but mold and mouse feces. Basement had a dirt floor, wet with the occasional mouse and snake. It was beyond bad. Had helpers for 3 days just to clean a path to areas. Work areas were tight and it needed to be done surgically because I knew they couldn't afford tearing out woodwork and plaster/drywall.

Anyway, since I had to do much of it solo, I  had weird feelings of being watched and uncomfortable in certain rooms. I could feel a presence while working but I stayed focused (Any slip up meant serious injury). It wasn't a threatening, get out warning. More of a curious, study what this man is doing in this place. I felt no fear. I just ignored it and did the job right, no short cuts. At several times I could swear some shadowy figure was in a room with me.

Since there was no money for a helper, I had mom help on a couple occasions, hand cable and parts to me. She got weird about me going back to the house alone. Would come clean or send my dad to help. Insisted upon it. She kept pressing me for how much longer this all would take to finish.

At one point I causally mentioned that it felt like someone watching me and saw some black shadowy figure. And asked her if that house was troubled. Her face went white and explained she saw something a couple times when she was there - a dark misty figure moving across the hall and room. I would later look this up to be labeled as a "shadow person." Mom knew of several things that plagued the family that lived there over the years.

The work was completed safely and without incident. It was a hardship to go without payment from it as the money was needed for a family member's medical costs. Thiking back, I can't imagine how I did that job. It certainly helped me to get praying the rosary everyday since.

I am curious if anyone has experienced a dark or evil presence and how they went about handling it.

Not exactly that situation. I had mentioned before that I get feelings about people and places, but I have never seen anything.
I do believe that there are just not good places people and things in the world. In my case, sometimes someone will come by the house while my husband is at work and the kids are at school. When everyone comes home, they feel that there has been something in the house that is not good. The whole house shifts subtly and everyone is more quick to anger or there is a sense of sadness and desperation left in the air. Left behind by someone coming into our house even for a moment or two. For the people who leave behind them the most oppressive junk, they dont get to come inside anymore. They have to stand and the porch and talk to me.

Some priests have theorized that "ghosts," "spirits," and the like are indeed human souls that are in Purgatory, and part of their purification, for reasons only God knows, is to partially re-enter this world.

There is also the possibility that these "ghosts" are demons, in which case it is a very different and dangerous situation.

My maternal grandfather died in 1986, when I was young . He died of lung cancer and really suffered for right at one year. The thing that I remember most is his breathing and how labored it was, especially near the end. Shortly after his death, I was alone in the barn, checking on some kittens that had just been born. It was very quiet when I suddenly heard, very distinctly, that same breathing. At first, I thought there was another animal in the barn, but the barn hadn’t been used actively in many years. I have no doubt, to this day, what I heard; I wasn’t imagining it. My grandfather and I were very close, and I like to think that God was allowing my grandfather, from Purgatory, to remind me to pray for his soul.

I am curious if anyone has experienced a dark or evil presence and how they went about handling it.
It's very simple: Holy water it, esp. with Epiphany Water blessed in the traditional rite with the exorcism, salt, etc. (Novus Ordo "holy" water isn't even exorcized or salted!). Incense the house, too.

I have a landlord friend who repeatedly witnessed demonic activity in one of his trailer park's trailers; even after a particular set of tenants of that trailer moved out and another moved in, there was still demonic activity, so it certainly had to do with the trailer and not its occupants. One tenant was a drug addict who saw apparitions, and another was a lesbian couple who, although they were not drug users, nevertheless still saw demonic apparitions. The unrelated tenants were also obsessed with a particular number (800-something, I think it was). I told my landlord friend to holy water and incense that trailer; he hasn't had any problems since.

Demons abhor holy water. It's very powerful.

Some caution is warranted.  While sprinkling holy water in one's residence is indeed a laudable activity, a lay person should not attempt any sort of exorcism or driving out of demons.  Only a member of clergy, whose soul has received the indelible mark of Holy Orders, should undertake such an activity.

And then only with his bishop's permission.

Fr. Ripperger is a good demonologist/exorcist. Listen to what he has to say in his "TU Newman Center Conference on Exorcism" here (http://www.sensustraditionis.org/multimedia.html).

I've personally experienced the "shadow man" phenomenon twice in my life, both times in my youth.  The first was when I was eight, very shortly after the death of my paternal grandmother.  I woke up in the night to find a figure standing in the doorway obscuring the hallway light.  One thing that I remember vividly is that, despite the fact that the figure was opaque and clearly delineated (no blurry outline as is sometimes reported in similar circuмstances), the figure itself cast no shadow on the floor.  However, I question how much of this might have been a waking dream.

The second time was definitely not a dream.  I was ten or eleven, I don't recall exactly.  To get a clear picture of what happened, a basic understanding of the layout of our cottage is required.  The toilet was at the end of an L-shaped corridor (the same one from the previous occasion) which led to the dining room, which was situated at the center of the cottage, and the doorway to the kitchen was on the opposite side of the dining room, making it just visible if standing by the sink, which is where I was at the time.  It was nine or ten in the evening and I was preparing to sleep when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye.  I turned my head just in time to see a figure walk into the kitchen.  At first, I thought it was my mother scrounging a snack.  When I went to the sitting room to wish my parents a good night, I asked my mother what she got offhandedly, to which she looked at me rather queerly and said that she hadn't been to kitchen since putting the dinner scraps away.  It's an event that she still brings up to this day.

Despite these two occurrences, I do not believe at all in ghosts, as is commonly understood in modern parlance.  I believe there are two types of supernatural apparition: religious and diabolical.

This is something I heard about. There was a house where there were demonic manifestations. They went to one of the priests in the area. He came and prayed at the house. The demonic manifestations continued. He cme back with a book and prayed prayers in Latin and sprinkled the house with holy water. The demonic manifestations continued. This priest was perplexed. So he called his uncle who was an experienced excorcist. His uncle said, "have the family pray the rosary every day." The priest went to the family and recommended to them that they pray the rosary every day. They did. The demonic manifestations ceased.

No, he was not performing an exorcism.

So, the laity can only holy water their homes to prevent demons from coming, not to rid those that may already be there? Why?

Thank you for the link!
My aunt recently came to me in a dream. She told me to touch her skin and then said her soul was burning because of the fires of Purgatory. She seems to come to me once a year. My sister has noticed that it is always near her birthdate.

My family as whole has experienced a number of what we would consider supernatural experiences.

A layman can sprinkle holy water around their homes and pray to God for liberatioin from the opression of the devil. (we do this all the time when we say "deliver us from evil) A layman is not allowed to perform a formal excorcism.

My sister did see a dark black shadow in her home in the city in 1987 or so.  She was up at night and she said the shadow was not tall but small and she ran after it into a bedroom and it went into the closet and that was it.  When they moved she hoped that the entity would not go with them.  They went on a farm that was over 100 years old and the children did not feel comfortable in one of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor, so it became the toy room and no one slept in it.

"Ever experience an evil or a 'shadow person?'"

Yup.

A few times when I was a little kid.

Then, when I was about 19, I almost hit one with my car.  A friend was in the car with me, and he saw it, too.

To me, it looked like a seven-foot tall man with a bag on his head for a hat.  I swerved the car because I thought I was about to hit the person.  I turned back to look for this man, but he was not there.  My friend freaked out.  I turned to my friend and asked if he was okay.  I said I was sorry, but I thought I was about to hit a guy.  My friend said he wasn't afraid of having a wreck, but he was afraid of the man that he also saw.

He later told me this entity was a common phenomenon in his old neighborhood (where we swerved).

Ever since then, we referred to this creature as the Scarecrow Man.

I have an aunt who had one in the corner of the room one night demanding she give him her baby.

My niece was lying on her bed one night when one crossed along the ceiling.

I had a friend in school who had one standing over her bed one night when she woke up, she was paralyzed and it would not go away for a long time.

I would blow this off, but 21 years ago I turned off the lights and crawled into bed and happened to look into the closet. Although it was almost pitch dark in the room there was a shadow in the closet and it's eyes were glowing red. With a roar it rushed across the room and I rolled onto my stomach, it was growling and I could feel and hear the slaps like I was being punched in the kidneys. That was all I remember until I woke the next morning and my kidneys were sore all day.

Prior to that when I was in kindergarten I would wake up in the middle of the night and there would be lights floating on the walls and once when I was in the 6th grade I felt a presence and the hair on my neck was standing up when I heard a distinct and clear diabolical laugh but there was no one there.

Hope none of this stuff ever happens again.
