Which identity is more important to you?
That of Catholic, or that of race and nationality?
Can you be redeemed by your race and nationality? Or is it only through Jesus Christ Our Lord that you can be redeemed?
I want them all, thank you very much. Each one of them is a hand-wrapped gift from God. I am a Roman Catholic, male, belonging to such and such a country, descended from such and such a people. I get a joy and a peace from each of those identities. Of course only the Catholic Faith can save my soul into heaven, but that is not the point. I shouldn't have to choose which person in the boat I'm going to throw overboard. All life is precious, and all God-given identities are precious. Something good from God is something good from God. In other words, not to be trampled on or taken lightly. Which of your children is the most important to you? Which is the first one you would sacrifice, if forced to? See, those are stupid questions.
