Hi,
My small family (me, wife and son) will be meeting with a Traditional Priest at a restaurant. Please excuse my ignorance but grew up with N.O. and greeting Priests has always been very casual. What is the proper way to greet him? Do we kiss his hand? do we refer to him as Reverent Father [name]? or just Father [name]? Am I overthinking it?
Thank you
- ask him to say grace, while everyone stands
- call him Rr. <lastname>, unless he is to be called Fr. <firstname>, as some orders do (ex, benedictine)
- make sure his wine glass is never empty
- relax and remember he is a man
(You kiss the ring of a bishop, never the hand of any religious.)
