    • In traditional days, was it permissible for priests to attend meetings with government officials with a group of other religious non-Catholic clergy?

    • That happened all the time. For example in the Notre Dame archives there is mention of the building of a road through property owned by the Church and they had to meet with the government and discuss the issues.

    • What kind of meeting are you talking about?  Something like a civic meeting about filling pot holes, reducing crime, the neighborhood carnival, etc.?  If that it what you mean, there would be no reason for a priest, or any other local resident for that matter, not to attend.

    If you had something else in mind, you’d have to explain what you mean.
