What is this argument? It doesn't matter where the light is positioned, it will only directly reflect off the water surface in this small range on the water that is between the light source and your eyes. Additionally, this depends on a variety of factors. Anyway, here's an explanation of the phenomenon, it doesn't have anything to do with the shape of the Earth:

In the meantime have a look at this beautiful sunset where the sun is appearing below the clouds - this can't happen on a flat Earth disc.
