For various reasons, I carry only sporadically (Ruger LC9), usually if I am going to be out someplace after dark, such as Walmart or Waffle House to pick up food. I keep it in the covered center well of my car, in a Sticky Holster (which I either use or not, depending on my preference at the moment), and carry it in my right front trouser pocket, or in an inner jacket pocket if I'm wearing a heavy jacket, such as the cheap bonded leather jacket I wear during cooler months. If I am going to be parking my car outdoors overnight, I take my LC9 wherever I'm going to be. It is loaded with seven JHP rounds, and I also keep another magazine with seven FMJ rounds, in case I decide to go to the range on the spur of the moment. I am also going to start keeping one of my 22LR pistols in a range bag with ammo in the trunk, for the same reason --- I'll be out somewhere, and want to stop by the range for a little while, but all I have is my LC9. Practicing with only 9mm can get pricey. Renting a pistol is ever pricier, and you have to use their ammo.
