  • I have developed very loud tinnitus in my right ear lately, the worst and loudest I ever had. It is so loud I cannot sleep. I developed tinnitus 40 years ago. I lived in my ears for 5 years. I prayed to St Philomena for relief and with her help God gave me great relief for the next 25 years. Lately it is back and I am finding it hard to cope with. I remember once reading that people with tinnitus have the highest rate of ѕυιcιdє. I once joked as a Catholic that was not an option for me. If anyone knows what might help I will be most grateful.

  • I haven't personally had tinnitus but this article may be worth your time, it deals with tinnitus in the last paragraph.

Natural Remedies for Ear Aches, Ear Infections, and Ear Inflammation

The single most common reason for the prescription of antibiotics in children is ear infections, and these infections also arise from time to time in what appears to be healthy adults.  In most cases, the standard oral antibiotics have very little effect on the pain, but it is not long before the ear ache naturally subsides.
Ear aches often occur when an ear gets infected.  The ears then become inflamed; making fluid drainage more difficult.  This results in an immune system response which includes fever, difficulty hearing through the 'bad' ear, mucus buildup inside the ear, and often other general signs of sickness.  However, there are other reasons for ear aches.
General inflammation is likely to occur in the ears of children following any stresses on their immune system, even if a bacterial infection is not directly present inside the ear.  This type of ear ache is most likely to occur in children, and explains why antibiotics are so useless in many cases.
In children who are allowed to recover from ear aches without the use of antibiotics, parents often report that a 'growth spurt' follows.  When the child is about to undertake a major change, the immune system becomes stressed.  While this is normal, the modern diet and lifestyle encourage negative symptoms whenever any stresses are placed on the immune system.  Ear infections are just one of those symptoms.  However, if a doctor notices repeated ear infections over a six-month period, he may prescribe long term oral antibiotics for you or your child.  That is, antibiotics as a 'preventative' medicine.  I'll resist ranting about the long term health implications.  Alternatively, the doctor may opt for a surgical approach to insert tubes inside the ears, in order to help them drain.  Hopefully, this article will to help concerned parents to avoid these barbaric approaches.

Preventing Ear Infections and Ear Aches In A System Gone Wrong

Contrary to what the medical establishment claims, ear infections are not a routine part of life, anymore than the common cold is.  They are a part of being chronically ill, which is the lifestyle that is encouraged by pharmaceutical companies, and the governmental groups which represent them.  If you regularly see your doctor, then you will get ear infections, lung infections, headaches, and frequently experience trouble sleeping.  Count on it.  That's because modern doctors are merely drug salesmen who learned very little about how the body actually works in college.  They learned about pharmaceutical chemistry, and about having a good "bed side manner" (salesmanship) in college.  Just ask your doctor to list the cascading order of organ dysfunction that leads to pre-diabetes, and just wait for that blank look in his eyes.  Those so-called "wonder drugs" and vaccines actually weaken the immune system in the long term, so that ear aches become normal.  Likewise, those who adhere to the modern diet will also experience these common symptoms.  Drinking municipal (tap) water, eating refined sugars, 'white' processed products, hormone-laden meats, nitrate salts, table salt, and using hydrogenated oils will all ensure that you and your family experiences chronic illness and developmental issues.
The answer to having no future ear infections lies in taking care of the overall health.  In the case of young children, it is harder to avoid ear aches; but it is not impossible.  If the immune system is strong, miscellaneous ailments rarely develop.  (We have not been to a doctor in years.)  If you are aware of increased stress upon the immune system, then you can give it a strong boost with Golden Seal, Colloidal Silver, Echinacea, Yogurt, Vitamin C, and L-Lysine supplements.

    Relief From Ear Ache Pain

For many people, nothing works as well as standard 3% hydrogen peroxide for providing immediate relief from an ear ache.  Fill the cap of the hydrogen peroxide bottle with peroxide and use a medicine dropper to extract it.  Make yourself comfortable, and turn your head sideways before squirting the peroxide deep into the ear.  Attempt to rotate the ear and head around until you hear a fizzing noise.  Stay in that position until the fizzing stops, which is usually around five minutes.  The bubbling peroxide can tickle at times.  You may wish to do this twice if you are still experiencing pain after the first attempt.  It is always advised to do this for both ears.  Even when the other ear is not producing pain, it is still likely to be infected.  This method will only be effective if the ear ache is caused by an infection, instead of just inflammation.  Using this process whenever you are sick will usually speed the recovery time, because it takes some of the burden off of the immune system.

Some people experience great results with garlic oil (garlic infused in olive oil).  Garlic has strong anti-septic and anti-inflammatory effects, and placing a few drops of this in the ear may relieve pain.  This is particularly effective when ear aches are caused by inflammation, instead of bacteria.  You can make your own garlic oil, of course.  Place 1 bulb of garlic (preferably organic) in 1/2 cup of olive oil with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.  Cook on low for around 10 - 20 minutes, until the cloves are golden brown.  Ensure that the oil is not too hot before placing it inside the ear.  You can leave the garlic in the olive oil, and keep refrigerated for future use.  It should never be kept for more than a week, due to the risk of botulism.
    Ringing in the Ears

Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) is usually caused by nutritional deficiencies of zinc, and B vitamins, especially vitamin B-12.  Purchase B-12 in the form of methylcobalamin lozenges, and hold them in the mouth for maximum absorption.  B-12 and zinc are both found in meats, so tinnitus is often the result of an unhealthy vegetarian diet.  In those cases, such people need to reconsider their destructive vegetarian lifestyle of chronic malnutrition and toxic soy products before more severe problems occur.  Less often, tinnitus can also occur due to inflammation, in which case the above remedy that uses olive oil and garlic should be helpful.  Of course, if the ringing is caused by infection-induced inflammation, then hydrogen peroxide will be a solution in some cases.

Guinness is high in B vitamins, except B-12. I started having a bottle (yes, just one ;)) with my evening meal and have felt more energetic ever since. Now that I think of it, my grandfather used to put a raw egg in his beer, said it was his vitamin supplement. Maybe he wasn't just joking.

I am sorry about that, it must be very distressing for you. I have had it off and on in minor degrees. A few random things for you: Always use hearing protection when using lawnmowers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, etc.

Try to minimize noise from electronic devices or anything with LED components by unplugging them when not in use or keeping them in one room with the door closed.

Try using warm/hot compresses on your ear. You can take a clean wash cloth, soak it under the tap, wring it out, and place it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Take it out, but be careful. It should be comfortable to place on your skin, but not so hot that you burn yourself. USE EXTREME CAUTION if you are diabetic or another sensory issue. Try to massage your ear lightly to see if this provides relief.

*You might be allergic to Aspirin products. (Including things like Pepto Bismal). A few other medications can cause this also.

Try drowning out the noise by masking it with some soothing music before bed. Whatever you enjoy that you find calming or acceptable. It might be Gregorian chant, it might be quiet Christmas carols, lullabies, whatever works for you.

Try a small water fountain near your bed, or let your tap run to a suitable drip sound. The aim is to help distract yourself. If water drives you crazy, obviously this will not work for you. By the same token, a ticking clock might help, whereas it would drive me nuts!

You can try counting sheep, singing the 99 bottles of beer song, counting backwards from 100, praying out loud, or counting ceiling tiles, patterns in the wallpaper, or whatever you might have to focus on to distract you until you fall asleep.

Use earplugs and a nose plug if you go swimming and ensure that your ears are free from water after.**

See your Dr.* and also get a referral to an ENT. You might have sinus issues. Also have your hearing testing. You may need hearing aids or a new type of them or an adjustment. You may also have wax build-up in your ears and having them flushed might help.

For you, I would avoid Q-Tips and similar. See immediately above. Just use a clean washcloth to clean your ears, GENTLY. You can also try using a drop or two of rubbing alcohol to help dry ears of water. It will help evaporate it. **

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head from personal and professional experience. But please see your Dr. I will pray for you and hope you feel better soon! Cheers, Anne.

My friend's ENT specialist was so impressed with my friend's good results that the ENT recommended Betahistine Dichloride to two other patients both of whom had excellent relief. Admittedly this is anecdotal, but worth the $30 to try it.

  •  Many thanks Emile, Anne and others for the above helps and advice. I have started Zinc and B-12. Got a better night's sleep last night. If necessary I will investigate other helps.

A friend came around yesterday with a picture of Jesus's tormented face  as found on the shroud. She said that praying prayers written up by some saint resulted in more miracles attributed to this portrait of Jesus that any other holy object. She is looking in to it for me. thanks to all again.

  • Hello My Anonymous Friend,

I have suffered from tinnitus for about 3 years. When it gets bad, silence is unbearable and you feel like you want to move to the coast where you could fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the beach.

Meanwhile, I do have a solution that works for me. If complete silence is unbearable, it can be replaced with music and I often manage to fall asleep when listening to Gregorian Chant.

There are self hypnosis courses that you claim to teach your mind to ignore the buzzing. I have downloaded one, but never gone through the whole monthly course
