  • If someone wanted to become officially an SSPXer, do they just attend the chapels and call themselves one or do they register/join/etc.?

Registering in an SSPX chapel and making weekly offertory contributions, with Chapel envelopes would qualify you as a "supporter".

  • To be a member you'd have to become a cleric (2nd year seminarian).

A layman could join the 3rd Order, which might qualify as being a "member" of the SSPX. That's about as close as a layman is going to get.

  • I guess I poorly phrased my question.

What about a family?  Do they just register?  To belong to a specific chapel?

You can register but you still won't be a member. The nearest for a layman to be a member would be to become a 3rd order member.

  • Maybe the person asking means "parishioner".  Does that term apply for sspx?

  • I've been attending SSPX Masses for about 12 years, and I've never had to register.

You don't join the Dominicans by attending their churches.
