Recently at our TLM Chapel, we heard a sermon in which this was said:
"Heaven itself is populated by an 'elite' assembly of men and women who were faithful to Christ until the end. . .
"those who manage to enter the Celestial Kingdom will be like angels."
This does not sound Catholic:
elites instead of saints?
we will be like angels?
You better believe the saints are elite! The few, the humble, the mighty.
What does elite mean? "The select few, the winners" and that's exactly what everyone who makes it to heaven is: a winner, a survivor, a champion. And how many people save their souls? Very, very few, according to most saints and even Christ Himself. "Strive ye to enter by the narrow gate...", "Many are called but few are chosen."
Anyone who saves his soul is not just a "1%er" but more like a 0.001%-er.
Of course, the so-called "1%ers" on earth, the super-wealthy who own 90% of the world's property, who are called "the Elite" here on earth, will almost certainly NOT be among those who save their souls -- but I digress :)
