Title: Disappointed
Post by: Änσnymσus on June 12, 2014, 07:07:11 PM
I just want to say that I am REALLY disappointed at the LACK of serious Catholic educational institutions, especially at the university level.

Instead of fighting like cats and dogs over Vatican II, why not focusing our efforts on actually PASSING the Faith onto our children?

Children nowadays are not even learning BASIC cathechism. Often times, homeschooler mothers feel totally isolated in their educational efforts because there is not a strong community support.

In a society that is clearly AGAINST us Catholics, it should be priority getting a serious Catholic educational sytem up and running for the next generation. Everything will be frutitless if we don't do it.

'cause Vat2 is the root of the problem.

Amen Nadir.  VatII is not only worth fighting over like 'cats and dogs', it's worth laying down your life.   Those who defend the Faith do pass it on to our children.

However, you are right.  Traditional Catholic education should be a huge priority in the trad churches.  Why not allow the churches to be used for classes?  We're in an absolute crisis, requiring out of the box problem solving.

We need to vehemently oppose V2, and teach the catechism to impart the Faith.

Traditional churches DO have doors open to teach children, parents don't come.  The parents send their children to the PUBLIC, and not even home?!  Now who is at fault?  Oh, they say, no money, to far to drive, but will they homeschool?  No, why? Well, it will be the parents fault.  Besides I do believe the Catholic Church has made herself very clear over not decades but centuries.  Teaching the children is the Priority of the Parent.  Not the gov't the Catholic Church, yes, but ...... where are the parents?

What about the universities?

Are we to send our children (especially boys) to secular colleges?

There are certain occupations that do require a degree

Ask Dr. David Allen White.  He was of the Naval academy and I don't know if he still is, but he would be able to answer you.  He was a speaker for Judith Sharpe of the In Spirit of Chartres Committee which can be found on google.

I don't know your opinion on Charles Coulombe, but this is what he has to say on the subject:

There are ... solidly Catholic small colleges, such as TAC, Christendom, Thomas More, Magdalen, and Wyoming.

You're welcome!

As you know, your children will have to face the effects of heresy in the hierarchy at some point in their lives, if they haven't already. Hopefully their formation before they leave home will be sufficient to prepare them!

An Ave for you and yours.

Quote from: Charles A. Coulombe

There are, today, several concentric problems facing those interested in University Education — and particularly the parents of potential undergrads. Pace the egalitarianism of a graduate with a degree in Business flipping burgers while trying to fend off crushing student loan payments, is this really a good plan? If the career an individual wants does not really depend upon a degree, why waste four years and thousands of dollars? Far better to go to a good trade school or on-the-job training, and give oneself the extra leg up in tool and die or whatever.

Definitely true!

The parochial school that I graduated from the 8th grade in 1962 in which
every graduate knew their Catholic Faith from A to Z. The school still
exists, and is now, and for many years the most progressive Catholic
School in the Archdiocese.  The previous monsignor, was a sort of
traditional. When he retired, his replacement monsignor brought in the
"Renew Programs"
If you had any Catholic Faith, it would have extinguished by this program.
I am afraid that the only way to teach the Catholic Faith is that you have
to home school them, and teach the traditional catechism  is that
you are going to teach it yourself to your children.
The cancer of false teachings is from the parochial schools to the
Universities, and has been for decades. this decay begun after
Vatican 2.
