I'm getting bad at keeping track of time, but Droleskey and SGG were indeed close for a couple of years.
Everything blew up during the Ramolla incident. Most of what went on then remains occult in spite of the many promises by a member of this forum that everything would become clear and proven. Instead, the poster has slid into the background, and SGG is a little bit slowed down, but mostly business-as-usual.
Thanks for your comments.
I met Droleskey once, about seventeen years ago, at a private gathering. We talked for half an hour or so. Actually, a better way to put it would be to say that I made a number of 30-word comments, to each of which he gave a 3,000-word reply.
I was impressed by the conviction he evinced about everything from Al D'Amato to the Mets, but I never suspected that within six years he would sacrifice his livelihood and place his family's security in jeopardy in the interest of what at first seemed high principle but later came to resemble incurable eccentricity.
I wonder sometimes what direction he'll end up facing when he's ceased spinning. The only thing I am sure of is that to describe him as "wound tight as a drum" is almost an understatement.
