  • Hey:

A few days ago I finished reading a pamphlet, "Knight of Our Lady, Queen of the Skies: The Story of Technical Sergeant Leo E. Lovasik (1921-1943), U.S. Army Air Corps" (Terentum, Penn.: Marian Action, 1944). The touching letters Mr. Lovasik wrote to his mother revealed a profound Catholic piety, an exemplary patriotism and a masculinity based on duty and chastity.

After some prayer, a thought occurred to my mind. We ought to pray for the faithful departed amongst our fallen soldiers who died for Faith and country, so that they may be released from their purgatorial flames and intercede for our bedeviled Republic in Heaven. November is the month wherein Catholic are accustomed to pray for the Holy Souls, and we ought to remember those faithful departed who served in the armed forces. In the better days of this Republic's history, such men died for the ideals and principles that are being attacked and ridiculed by leftists who are inebriated by the poison of secularism, naturalism, socialism and other anti-Christian errors.

In these sorry days of engineered befuddlement and artificially-contrived opinions based on media distortion, outright lies and irreverent memes, the only manner in which the American Republic can be saved from its enemies is prayer: particularly by means of the Holy Rosary and devotion to the Mother of God, the glorious Immaculate Conception who has been the celestial Patroness of this nation.

Other ideas for devotions for the present crisis in our Republic:

    1) Devotion to St. Michael; particularly offering Rosaries and Masses in thanksgiving for the graces and glories given to this celestial Prince and to beg of Our Lady, Queen of All Angels, to send him to us who are in sore straits; so that he may defend us from the votaries and instruments of the devil who pretend to usurp offices and defile the Holy Name of Christ.

    2) Devotion to St. George, for the same intention.

    3) The Way of the Cross, offering the infinite merits of Our Lord's Passion in reparation for the national sins and crimes of those who pretend to lead our Republic.

    4) Devotion to the Sorrows of Our Lady, for the same intention.

    5) Devotion to St. Benedict, that by his intercession the Occident may be restored to Christendom and the social Kingship of Christ the King.

    6) Pray to the Angel Guardians of those in office and of those who are endeavoring to be elected to office, that they may illumine and convert those unfortunate politicians who are enemies of Christ and His Cross.

Thank you very much for reading this. I highly recommend the pamphlet I mentioned at the beginning of this post. It shows a glimpse of how a Catholic America would have appeared, had it not been for the anti-Christian perversions whose fruition we are now beginning to witness in these sorry times.

  • Meditations for the Holy Rosary Prayed for the American Republic

    Joyous Mysteries:

    (o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

    1. The Annunciation

"And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God." (St. Luke 1:30)

O Blessed Virgin Mary, thou art the Immaculate Conception, replenished with the plenitude of graces from the first moment of existence. Wherefore does the Angel declare that thou hast found grace with God? How couldst thou find that which you had already possessed, and possessed in a fullness that exceeds created understanding? Was it not, rather, that thou didst find grace for us, fallen children of Eve, groaning under the tyranny of the devil? Behold us from thy celestial throne, we who are threatened by the enemies of thy Divine Son, menaced by infernal agents who wish to make this Republic a colony of hell, of socialism, of Islam. Do thou grant us thy Son's heavenly grace, that each of us may convert and acknowledge the sovereignty of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

    (o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

    2. The Visitation

"And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda." (St. Luke 1:39)

Hasten, O Blessed Virgin: hasten unto us. Do thou bring unto us the grace of thy Divine Son, saluting us with words of benediction. As with the holy Baptist, may each of us residing in this Republic receive the grace of thy Divine Son through thy maternal mediation; that we may, as it were, leap for joy before the presence of Our Lord as we make of our very lives a sacrifice of praise, confessing the clemency and omnipotence of thy Divine Son. Do thou bring unto us the Divine Victor, just as thou didst through the Incarnation, that He may conquer this Republic and make it into His special possession.

    (o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

    3. The Nativity

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." (St. Luke 2:7)

Thou didst bring forth the Son of the Eternal Father in a poor stable, whilst remaining an inviolate Virgin, O Blessed Mother of God. This Republic seems to have rejected thy Divine Son, causing Him to search for the stables of humble and pure hearts wherein He may be born anew by grace. Grant us, O Blessed Virgin, to be pure and humble of heart, that we may be found worthy of carrying within us Our Lord's divine grace and bring Him forth by means of faith and good works, so that His light may illumine others, thus beginning the conversion of this Republic.

    (o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

    4. The Presentation

"And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother: Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed." (St. Luke 2:34-35)

O Valiant Virgin, cheerfully and courageously didst thou bear the sword of sorrow, for it was the adorable will of thy Divine Son. Thy love  for us and thy zeal for our salvation compelled thee to suffer the pangs of childbirth (which thou didst not experience in the sacred Nativity as the Immaculate Conception) in becoming our Mother and co-Redemptress. Grant, O Blessed Virgin, that thy Divine Son may be the fall of our vices and sins, and the resurrection of that grace which we received at Baptism. May thy Divine Son cause the fall of His enemies in our Republic and the resurrection of a Christian Republic that will acknowledge thy Son's social kingship. O Blessed Mother, we are unworthy of such grace, but thy Son does indeed deserve such glory.

    (o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

    5. The Invention

"And seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: Son, why hast thou done so to us? behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing." (St. Luke 2:48)

O Sorrowing Mother, well didst thou bear the loss of thy Son for three days in order to further our salvation and to become for us our supreme Consolatrix in all our woes. It seems as if the above words could well have been address to each of us, and to our Republic at large, as if to say, "O erring children, why have you done so to us? The heavenly Father and I, your true Mother, have sought you sorrowing, for you have "turned back and tempted God: and grieved the holy one of Israel" (Ps. 77:41) and in vain have you attempted to hide yourselves from the face of your Lord God (cf. Gen. 3:8)." O Blessed Mother! Grant unto us to no more grieve thy Divine Son and thine Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart. Grant that we may in earnest seek thy Son by means of prayer and penance, that we may find Him as the Redeemer and King of this fallen Republic.

    (o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

    More later...

  • I like Baltimore Abp. Carroll's "Prayer for the Government of the United States of America" (1800):
    Quote
We pray Thee, O Almighty and Eternal God! Who through Jesus Christ hast revealed Thy glory to all nations, to preserve the works of Thy mercy, that Thy Church, being spread through the whole world, may continue with unchanging faith in the confession of Thy Name.

We pray Thee, Who alone art good and holy, to endow with heavenly knowledge, sincere zeal, and sanctity of life, our chief bishop, N., the Vicar of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the government of his Church; our own bishop, N., all other bishops, prelates, and pastors of the Church; and especially those who are appointed to exercise amongst us the functions of the holy ministry, and conduct Thy people into the ways of salvation.

We pray Thee, O God of might, wisdom, and justice! Through Whom authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment decreed, assist with Thy Holy Spirit of counsel and fortitude the President of these United States, that his administration may be conducted in righteousness, and be eminently useful to Thy people over whom he presides; by encouraging due respect for virtue and religion; by a faithful execution of the laws in justice and mercy; and by restraining vice and immorality.

Let the light of Thy divine wisdom direct the deliberations of Congress, and shine forth in all the proceedings and laws framed for our rule and government, so that they may tend to the preservation of peace, the promotion of national happiness, the increase of industry, sobriety, and useful knowledge; and may perpetuate to us the blessing of equal liberty.

We pray for his excellency, the governor of this state , for the members of the assembly, for all judges, magistrates, and other officers who are appointed to guard our political welfare, that they may be enabled, by Thy powerful protection, to discharge the duties of their respective stations with honesty and ability.

We recommend likewise, to Thy unbounded mercy, all our brethren and fellow citizens throughout the United States, that they may be blessed in the knowledge and sanctified in the observance of Thy most holy law; that they may be preserved in union, and in that peace which the world cannot give; and after enjoying the blessings of this life, be admitted to those which are eternal.

Finally, we pray to Thee, O Lord of mercy, to remember the souls of Thy servants departed who are gone before us with the sign of faith and repose in the sleep of peace; the souls of our parents, relatives, and friends; of those who, when living, were members of this congregation, and particularly of such as are lately deceased; of all benefactors who, by their donations or legacies to this Church, witnessed their zeal for the decency of divine worship and proved their claim to our grateful and charitable remembrance. To these, O Lord, and to all that rest in Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, a place of refreshment, light, and everlasting peace, through the same Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Amen.
(1800 abridged form on p. 1000 of the St. Andrew Daily Missal, right after the proper prefaces and communicantes and before the thanksgivings after Mass section)

I pray this prayer, usually right after Mass, but with a few word modifications (above).

Excellent updating of this prayer since most people today, when they hear "religion" or "liberty," think of "false sects" (not "the [one and only] Catholic religion") and license ("freedom" to enslave oneself to sin).

  • St. Thomas More is the patron saint of politicians.
My family will be praying a novena to him starting 10/31/2016 for the intentions of the election for president.

I am He who is- you are she who is not.

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Let's start a Novena to Christ the King, beginning Friday 21 October, so that the social kingship of Our Lord be established throughout the American Republic through the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Our Lady.

I am going to make this Novena a Rosary Novena, which has proven so efficacious for me in the past.

This past Sunday, the Priest at my chapel preached that the only solution for our nation's woes shall be found in the devout recitation of the Holy Rosary.

No matter how troubled and frustrated we may be by reason of our nation's perils and distresses, we must never doubt the power and clemency of Our Blessed Mother and the efficacy of Her Holy Rosary.

  • Why not offer the prayers at the end of Mass for the United States? God knows we need to be converted.

  • May the Lord God be praised, together with His Blessed Mother!

The Holy Rosary is our infallible weapon in the sacred war against Satan and his votaries!

May this be the beginning of Our Lord's TRiUMPh in our nation.
