  • Matthew,

Can you permit us to delete our own posts or threads?
I particularly could use this function since I often post childish things.
Where discipline is lacking the urge to spam the forum prevails, and in the time before someone acquires discipline and learning, can you permit them to delete their own posts, like if there are no replies to a thread for example?

I feel my brainwashing thread could be misinterpreted by some who see "brainwashing" as a trigger word.

Do not ban me yet, I am getting useful contacts for the SSPX and have gone to my first SSPX mass today. Allow me to delete my own posts, or moderate my posts, I suggest.

  • Knowing that you cannot delete your threads or edit your posts after a certain amount of time is good, IMO. A nice reminder that one should be thoughtful and prudent about what they say.

Not to say I don't have some things I'd like to delete, but I've used them as a penance to make me more humble. I'm embarrassed about a few of them.

Instead of asking the moderator to change his policies, perhaps you should change your own by exercising some restraint and employing more prudence in what you post.

  • Some dislikers here could do with some humility.
It takes years to develop wisdom and prudence hence God gave us childhood.  When you are only starting your training in your adulthood because you are only learning the Faith from scratch, later in life then good guidance is needed and patience on the part of the teachers be they priests, congregation, family and friends in tradition.
You cannot expect SG to know all in one mass .  Maybe he will take advice from this forum and go to a good priest for learning but all this takes time so again can we leave the dislike buttons for now and instead post critical corrections but in a kind manner. Like a Father or Mother would do.

  • Soulguard, one thing that you can delete is your signature, where you quote yourself contemplating on the faith.  Better to quote saints and give them the credit they have earned than to quote yourself and cite yourself.

Work on proving yourself to God, not the forum.

  • Soulguard, you've only been here 2 months and you obviously are searching and learning. When one first comes here, one tends to want to read a lot and write a lot, and especially to connect with the like-minded.

Recently you said you were not going to come on CathInfo any more, but you came back. And I don't think it's a bad thing for you to spend some time here.

You say you lack discipline, and so knowing that Matthew won't allow deletion of your own posts, that's an added incentive to you to discipline yourself. Practice makes perfect, you know.

Now you post an average of 8.48 posts per day, that's 505 posts to date. Why not resrict yourself to a maximaum of say, 5 posts and don't go beyond that, no matter what. It would be a good way to take more care in using up your 5. Do it as form of penance.

Ensure that you are reading hand-held paper books, not the internet variety, as that is a temptation to get back on the computer and just to check in on what you've written earlier to see if you got thumbs up or thumbs down. You say you are attracted to religious life, but you cannot possibly succeeed in it, unless you learn to control your impulses. Even if you don't have a vocation you will need to learn to discipline yoursef for the sake of a future wife and for your own salvation.l

Give it a go. I am praying for you.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • The fact that our posts cannot be deleted will hopefully make us think before we post.

Yes, please delete your terribly pretentious signature.  It's cringe-worthy.  God bless you and all, but put a scripture verse in there or something.  The "adventures of soulguard" or whatever it is you've got going are vain and grandiose.
