  • Just let it sit out on the counter for an hour or so.

  • I use my microwave.  If the bread is in slices, I break off the slices I want and nuke it for 20-25 sec for 2 slices.

  • You can leave it on the counter. Once you can pry the slices apart you could even lightly toast them in a toaster, on the lowest setting, to get them thawed all the way.

  • Really???

This made me laugh. I have heard the joke about people who can’t cook and do not even know how to make toast. But someone who does not know how to thaw bread??

And asking it on a traditional Catholic Forum?

Why women only, do you think that no men know how to thaw bread?

    Have you heard of Google?

Or are you just a troll who is mocking and wasting time?

  • Hey how come women only can give advice?  We men can give useful domestic advice as well!

My recommendation for thawing out frozen bread efficiently is to use a propane tiger torch but do keep a fire extinguisher handy, at least the first few time you try this.  This will be very quick and efficient and have the added time saver of not having to use the toaster since your bread will be quite errrrrr toasty already!

    You're welcome OP :)

  • This thread is inappropriately named. Too generic. How will anybody who needs to know how to thaw frozen bread  be able to find it again in say, 6 weeks time?

If it was in earnest, you just ridiculed an innocent person for no reason.

Have you heard of good manners?

I'm a woman and I think this is almost cute.   :roll-laugh1:

Now I feel like trying this...though I've always been a counter-thawer.  Oh dear.

Do you recommend removing the plastic bag before thawing?

  • Does anybody else think that bread that has been frozen and thawed tastes funny? I tried to freeze it to limit shopping trips, but it just seems kind of 'off' to me.

  • What else do you keep in the freezer?  :jester:
My husband always makes two loaves at a time and freezes one till we're ready to eat it and it tastes just fine. But it tastes fine before freezing. I don't think the same can be said of shop-bought sliced stuff, which sometimes tasted like cotton-wool.

I usually ask questions about unrelated things simply because I expect the answers will be respectful for the most part, and I know I won't have to read blasphemy here. I admit the topic strikes me as funny, but the OP probably expected some ridicule, so he / she posted anonymously.

There could be any number of reasons why someone of good will would want only women to tell them how best to thaw frozen bread! Maybe the OP lives alone and had an unexpected guest and nothing else to serve, and wanted to do it right. As a woman, I'm honored that he / she expects me to know better than a man how to answer this 'cooking question'!
