  • Clare prefers post 1965 hippy Beatles over early Beatles-- a dead giveaway that she is a Communist. All the other crap she spills is just more evidence.  :heretic:

  • A post can be edited by someone other than who posted it? What is the point of that if not to sow anarchy. There is no click where i can edit the post of another.  :confused1:

  • I certainly don't welcome this attack on Clare. My criticism of the IA forum was merely they should have stood their ground better regarding a certain matter. and I thought it cowardly to remove certain articles.I always prefer people to stand their ground. My criticism is not personal. Clare is a good sort. She did say she was liberal. There are different understandings of this word. I have never seen her write anything which is against the teachings of the Church. There are people who may not be on "our page" on every issue but they are not enemies. I wouldn't regard Clare as an enemy.

  • Thank you, JG. I appreciate it.

(I was being tongue-in-cheek when I said I was a liberal, knowing that that's what some think of me. Others think I'm a reactionary bigot, so I'd tell them I'm one of those too!)

You're intimidated by her and those who think like her. You're scared of how people who hate you make and purposefully misunderstand you make you feel about yourself, so you bend to them. I've seen how you act towards her. It's not so much with a respectful tone, so much as a subservient one.

I'm not intimidated by her and the rest of your post comment will be dealt with the next time I am in England. I missed Fr Morgan the last time he was in Ireland.

This is your opinion and not correct. I am confined to what I can do but differs if in same geographical area. I was forced to stay away from a recent conference in London. I had no intention of going to where I wasn't welcome.

I still feel some could have defended me better over on Ignis Ardens. It was only Nemmersdorf in the end who did. Small things like this matter. It's not end of the world but still, we know who our friends are.

This can easily happen on a forum.

    recent conference in London

Whilst I commend the Bringing Christ to Our Neighbour conferences and regard them as necessary, I lament how one of the organisers stated some only turn up in the hope to hear discussion on the Jєωs. I'm not suggesting it becomes specifically a revisionist conference but I thought the comments counter productive given that in promoting the BCTON events they stated all are welcome.

What annoyed me even more was he said some don't turn up for spiritual reasons. An extraordinary thing to say particularly when they stated all are welcome. The parable of the Pharisee and the Publican came to mind.

John Grace, don't you think it's terrible that Clare has made fun of redheads?

The last time I was over  it was stated subtitles would be needed because one person had an Irish accent. I realise they might have been joking but when you have English who state the Irish patriot dead "supped with the devil", one can't be sure.

The Irish can be understood perfectly well and subtitles are not needed so I resent that comment from the LKC President. The Irish are not the slaves of the British.

One must remember that Captain Lee Wilson had some prisoners, including the aged Thomas Clarke and his brother-in-law, Ned Daly, hauled before him, stripped naked and publicly degraded in 1916 outside the Rotunda Hospital.

  • It has annoyed me as I gave of time to travel over and support his conference. They obviously take support for granted. The Irish don't need subtitles and anti-Irish sentiment is not welcomed. The Irish are not fools

  • The woman, who suggested they "supped with the devil" scuppered very scholarly research. Very insulting to living relatives of men and women of 1916. It is one thing not to be aware of Irish history but to say they supped with the devil is a disgrace.

Whilst people are not beyond criticism, I am at a loss as to why the LKC President would make such a statement. Would the speakers who are English need subtitles to be provided?

I would understand if an Irishman spoke in Irish, English subtitles would be needed. It was very insulting and anti-Irish.

A lot of people in England do this, don't they?

I once saw a billboard campaign in England selling some utility. A mother was seated on a couch and her redheaded 10-year old son was sitting next to her. I forget the details, but the joke of the ad was something along the lines of, "Sometimes in life we get something we didn't want." And the woman has a disappointed look on her face. The joke being that she would be happier with a brown haired or blonde haired son, but her genes made the decision for her and chose something she didn't want.

Lots of anti-redhead sentiment in England, and it's considered acceptable in the mainstream. Funny that these same people who make fun of redheads always stick up for protected minorities. They know which side their bread is buttered.

I think you should cease being so respectful to Clare. She's a moral and intellectual fraud.

On a more light hearted  note, are there many red headed people in England.I remember meeting a Catholic woman from Darlington who had red hair. I haven't met many English folk with red hair.
