Was anyone else treated to the surprise of a full blown Nativity scene in the sanctuary this a.m. at their sspx chapel?
The reason given for ours seems to be so that the children can put pieces of straw representing their sacrifices in the manger as Christmas approaches. Nice idea, but an inappropriate course of action, imo.
We should be teaching the children that Advent is a time of waiting and anticipation, not a time to decorate for Christmas.

Was Our Infant Lord in the scene? If not, it's non uncommon to set up the entire scene absent Our Lord beforehand.
There's plenty to criticize the SSPX about, vis-a-vis their movement toward Modernism, but this is much ado about very little. People should take the beam out of their own eye before criticizing the splinters in those of their neighbor.
There's no Church law they're violating. If people want to set up the ENTIRE manger in their home, for instance, starting in April, to aid in meditating upon the scene, what's that to anyone else?

I have manger sets that up year round. A couple small ones from the Holy Land.

We need to make sure during Advent that we are prayerful, do penance and alms like St Nick.

Why can’t we do both, prayers, alms, penance and have a nativity scene, I have one outside my home without baby Jesus
