Title: Can you cheer me up? Im a little down
Post by: Änσnymσus on January 05, 2017, 02:13:50 PM
yeh, i am disturbed today, not even sure why except that people, well i recall this psg in the Bible

"In the last days, because of iniquity, the love of many will grow cold"

It is so depressing to see the lack of love in the world.. victims of war and etc...

abortion.. People fighting Trump just to be fighting him, just b/c their party lost and they can't accept it..

so anyway.. do you have any jokes or something that could cheer us up? I probably need a Mass.. but none is available at this time..

1)  Rejoice in your intellect despite the emotions. Considering the state of the world, it's normal for a Catholic to feel down.
2)  Pray three Hail Marys and say the prayer to your Guardian Angel.
3)  Take action!  Any action, however small, of which Our Lord approves. Smile or nod at someone.  Put something away in its proper place. Tidy your hair. Compliment someone.  Do one minute of spiritual reading and meditate on it for four minutes.  Can't be physically active?  Exercise/exorcise the blues. See if you can recall a male and female saint whose names begin with each letter of the alphabet, or try this with any other wholesome topic.
4)  Allow yourself to be a bit down.  God allows it, after all.  It isn't a sin except if you feed into it.  Unless you're being tempted to ѕυιcιdє or violence to yourself or others, it will pass.

Pray to God and if you are still depressed offer this as a sacrifice to God. they say that the greatest suffering of Jesus' passion was the agony of the garden, If you unite your sufferings to this agony of Our Lord then you may do a lot more good than you realize.

weird, i heard it was bearing the Cross.. which makes sense since he was so bloodied.

do you focus on your own crucifixion when praying the rosary? I think that is important b/c Jesus is still suffering in you..

I try to unite all of my sufferings to those of Jesus.

Indeed, the love of mankind as a general popularity has grown cold.  Yet, the love of the faithful children of God burns all the brighter because of the darkness surrounding them.  Everyone is called to be a light for God to others, yet everyone has free will and God does not force his creations to choose righteousness.

The state of our world is currently quite a mess, but don't let that trouble your heart.  It is not your responsibility and burden to carry on your sholders the weight of the sins of mankind.  What is your job is to live your life as best you can and impact in whatever little ways you can the lives of others for the better.

We all struggle with sadness from time to time.  We are all human after all.  It takes a rare man to have perfect control of himself enough not to sometimes feel sadness in his heart.  For, the more a person loves his neighbors the more he feels their pains and sorrows.  Even a solemn face can hide a shaking heart.

So, be of good heart, and keep fighting the good fight!

We are all here for you if ever you need anything!

On that note I will leave you with some things to laugh at, or maybe just help you lift your spirits a little.

God bless!

Rita

My family's favorite "Happy Birthday" song (comedian version):

thank you. I am not down today.. but of course the day is not over!

I'm such a positive thinker!

Are there many people here who are NOT SSPX?

I'm not, but i am thinking about .. related matters. I think there are serious and awful problems in the non-SSPX Church.. and sometimes it is extremely disheartening..

Comedy always works for me.

There's always Dave Chappelle.  I also like the best of Will Ferrell.  I'm sure I've forgotten about somebody much better, though.

Well, that is good!  :-)

Glad that you are an optimist!  We need those these days!  ;-)

As for whether there are people here who are not SSPX...  I think that the answer to that question is, yes.  I believe that there are quite a number of people on this forum who are either private-sedevacantists or part of the "Resistance".

As for myself, I go to an independent chapel where the priests differ on opinions about church politics, yet agree on the primary points:

1.  Francis cannot be followed.

2.  The Novus Ordo should be avoided.

3.  We need a truly Catholic future pope to make a declaration about everything before anything solid about modern issues are resolved.

Hope this helps!  :-)

"Down today":  Male or Female? Age?  Mid-Crisis?  If male then ask for B-Complex shots.  No pain and you will feel better.

You are not alone. But with God's Grace, this too shall pass away. I do understand your situation. Offer it up for poor sinner's who would otherwise go to Hell.

Remember, as others have said, God allows these kinds of things. But He will help you get through it.

Try singing some hymns or songs out loud.
