The mind reflexively and constantly compares what it recalls with what it experiences. To someone who has been alive 3,650 days, each new day is a significant fraction of the remembered ones (even a 10-year-old recalls little earlier than his fourth year). When you get to 20,000 days, however, no new day increases one's store of memories or experiences by a significant fraction. In addition, the sense of life's sameness, having overwhelmed the child's constant sense of discovery, dulls the perception of time's passing. With one day having little to distinguish it from those that precede or follow it, it is hardly surprising that birthdays and Christmases seem to come around with almost indecent haste.

This happens to everyone who lives past thirty or so. Presumably God has His reasons for making us as He has. And as usual, He ain't telling—not in this terrestrial portion of existence at least.

When I was younger, I always heard the 'old folks' talking about how time was dragging so expected it to drag once I got to be their age.  Instead time is flying.
I do realize that we still have 24 hours in the day. I in no way believe that God has put us in fast motion like you think I think.   However, back then they didn't have all the things, doo-dads, events,  & 'busyness' that we're surrounded by today.  I think that explains it.

You've no idea what I'm talking about obviously.   Please say what years "back then" is to you.  The 70's, 80's, what?  Yes, I know that life was indeed simpler & less complex 'back then' regardless of what you think.
The 'old folks' were in no way odd.  They had traveled & worked in interesting occupations & were the salt of the earth type people.  Would that we had their type today!!

Russia is in the process of taking over Ukraine.  Latvia, Lithuania and a few other countries are taking measures to defend themselves from Russia. We've known for over a month that war is on the horizon and probably WWIII at that.

This is not surprising to most devout trads, you're right.  What was surprising was the intensity of the comments, and the fact of them being made at all by this particular person.  This person never, ever says bad things about anybody, shows genuine respect for everyone in all circuмstances.  (one of many reasons the person has such a brilliant career?)  X mentioned the prez and rus. pm with completely uncharacteristic contempt, and dread.  That they are playing a very dangerous game which may cause a catastrophe (but that's not the exact word).

  So, what was surprising was the fact of THIS particular person suggesting that bad trouble is on the horizon to do with the 2 world leaders.
