  • Is there any "Catholic" anime and manga books out there? One of my kids has a liking for this kind of things. Is there anything wrong with it provided that the content is not immoral?

  • Given the nature of anime/manga as something from Japan, a country with very few Catholics, you wouldn't find anything.

Agreed. The faith and popular culture are like oil and water, they will never mix.

Asking for Catholic "anime" is like asking for nutritious bubblegum. Just throw away the "bubblegum" and feed your child nutritious food.

  • You're basically stuck with Superbook and Flying House.

Speaking from experience, trying to find wholesome anime in itself is like trying to find an albino elephant. I recommend trying the latter since it will be more adventurous and self-fulfilling than reading the fantasies of effeminate Japo-males (which I must add are now an endangered species). It will also involve less if any occasions for sin, and hey, your endeavor might actually meet with success!

But if your kid likes anime so much then they can draw it themselves. They don't need to buy any. If you've taught your children their Catholic history, the Bible, Lives of the Saints etc., then they have more than enough creativity to keep themselves entertained with their own creations. Odds are whatever they make will trump whatever some 35-40 year old kid gets published.

I'd say the number one reason for staying away from anime is that if you become one of their consumers, you are sooner or later going to have pornography marketed to you. I'm not talking about general immodesty that pops up here and there. I'm talking about stuff with X rated material. I found a good lot of these videos and dvds I bought back in the day that were tailored to teen audiences had adds for adult productions, but often you wouldn't know that that's what they were unless you looked up what that title was about.

Also almost every company I've seen that produces or publishes anime is invested in the LGBT agenda.

Don't lend these folks your kids imagination.

  • Anime and manga have their roots in Japanese pornography, and is especially associated with children.  It became  popular with perverts when child pornography became illegal, because while photographs of children were illegal, drawings or cartoon that portrayed the same subject matter did not fall under the ban. The style of art carried over to story lines that were not sɛҳuąƖly oriented, but there is often an undercurrent of sɛҳuąƖ tension/spoiled innocence. In my opinion the whole genre and style of animation is thus soiled and should be avoided. I doubt you will find any Catholic manga that is not tainted somehow.

  • stay away - encourage writing and drawing his own versions of the lives of saints, the bible etc.
Sketchbook express and investing in a drawing tablet is recommended.  Consuming this kind of entertainment has no merit, being any kind of consumer is not recommended.  We strive to focus the children on creating, musical instruments, poetry, art, photography, knitting, there is so much out there.

  • *pities the Jesuits for being expelled from Japan*
There is one called Paul of Tarsus (not sure how much NO bufoonry does it contain):
    http://www.mangahero.com/manga/paul_tarsus_to_redemption/?manga/paul_tarsus_
Also, Japan may have more liberal standards in media due to their naturalistic view of life.
But you should not generalize that all of them are perverted. Actually, Tokyo was taking steps to close the "cartoon loophole".
But, even if you find one that is chaste, there is a big chance of being packed with occultism due to the secularism and the predominancy of Eastern spirituality in Japan.
I found a manga called "My First Communion" http://www.oriens.or.jp/shyoseki/b027_hajimete.html, but it's all-Japanese and its' style might not appeal to your son as it is more close to Western cartoons. And as again, it might be involved with the NO.
But your son might become a missionary to a land where half of the Catholics are sick of the NO.
    Also:

    And for missionary activity:

    and AgnesRoma's posts.
Catholicism is often misrepresented in anime/manga, like, a nun is depicted hearing confessions. Actually, a lot of people have no idea what Catholicism is, they think it is "hip".
And take in account that this comes from a fan.

No...there isn't any Catholic manga/anime because Japan is a country that is, what? Less than 0.5% Catholic in a country of 100 something million people? It is a disastrously small number.
