  • After months of being in mortal sin I travelled on my way to the local Latin mass church to go to confession.

On my way in, this black crow just glared at me. Pretty creepy . Do you think it was symbolic or anything?

  • No. Catholics don't do omens.
"Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." [Matt. 6:34]

"In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin." [Ecclus. 7:40]

"A holy man continueth in wisdom as the sun: but a fool is changed as the moon." [Ecclus. 27:12]

  • Right it wasn't an omen or anything but it sounds like it was an actual grace, meant to remind you of the devil.  God knew from all eternity that you would be in that exact situation, at that exact church, at that exact moment and see that exact bird.  He knew, since He created you, what your reaction would be.  Therefore, such is an actual grace meant to give you a holy fear of evil and sin.  For others, this situation wouldn't mean anything because God created them to view the world differently.  Nothing wrong with that either.

I agree, excuse my intial quick reply. I wasn't trying to belittle it.

I had a weird dream the night before my baptism years ago where a white-faced man was with me on a dark beach trying to convince me not to go into the water. I saw other black shades approaching with him and refused his appeals and went into the water.

I took it as Satan trying to keep me from regeneration. God has a way of sending these kinds of signs. Praise God for your repentance OP

  • Right.  Your point about omens was a good one.

  • First of all, crows don't 'glare'.  That is a human thing.  It was just a crow looking at you & the world around him.  (All crows are black)

Not all crows are black https://www.birds.cornell.edu/crows/whitecrows.htm

You may dismiss it as anthropomorphization but I've seen many animals apparently display emotions including anger/hostility.

  • Well..... maybe it was a sign of some kind.  A few years ago I used to pray the Rosary around the local masonic temple. I was a little afraid the first time, and when I walked up to the front of the building while still on the sidewalk I stood there and then looked down. There was a dead crow right at my feet that I hadn't noticed walking up to the temple. That was scary- but I still went ahead without any disturbances for years. No problems

 No, of course not, it's just a bird.

  • Crows taste best on an open rotisserie with a little garlic salt.  I love me some crow in my tummy.

  • I was on the way to CVS one time and I saw a Christopher Walken double double, a look-alike or him for real, and a raven.
