Re: I don't know how to cope with lacking true catholic friend and family IRL
What is a true Catholic? I do not think it is one who is a perfect catholic. We are all at different stages of our walk with Christ. Some just started, some have been on the good fight for some time, everyone has different struggles, etc. I think it is, as you already mentioned, a bit harsh to say those friends of yours who identify as "traditional" Catholics are not Catholics because they've compromised on something. Probably most people on the confession line have compromised on something.
I'm glad that you spoke up and brought this up to your friends. It's like you planted a seed, be consistent and one day you will see the fruit of that. I know that if a Catholic friend offered me a correction or suggestion with charity, that it would stick with me and next time I'm in a similar situation I would most likely come to mind, specially because my friend is Catholic.
