A true woman (Trad or even pagan) who accepts her role as less than a man, both in the natural order and in the spiritual order, is acting like Our Lady, in showing her femininity.
I've never heard that women are less than men. I know we're not as strong physically, and that thus there are certain things that we can't do. But I've never heard that we're less than men in the spiritual order. What does that even mean?

Maybe among intellectuals. The rational is higher than the emotional, and men are more rational, etc.

    Fair enough.

In the matter of families, women are subservient to men.  A queen is less than the king.  How is news?

In families, yes.  The husband is the bishop of the family.  Only certain graces come through him.

That makes sense. I understand about the hierarchy within the family. This poster seemed to be speaking more broadly.

  • But in the spiritual order?

Yes, in the spiritual order too. For example, the hierarchy of the Church is all male. Women are "subject to" (less or lower) than those who have received Holy Orders. They cannot be priests or bishops. They cannot serve at the altar.

That is not to say that women don't have equal value in the eyes of God or that they don't have an important role to play in the this vale of tears. The example of the Virgin Mary is the model. But women are weaker in certain areas (by God's ordination) and are required by Sacred Scripture and the constant teaching of the Church to be subject to proper authorities.

It all goes back to the punishment of Eve in Genesis 3:16 (which is echoed multiple times in the New Testament). Follow the example of Mary, the new Eve.

  • The feminine nature is derived from, and complimentary to, the masculine; which is the principle of the former.
This is like the situation with children (the infantile or juvenile) who are subject to, and derived from, both the masculine and the feminine parents.

You mean that husbands can wear a mitre? I would like a very tall and golden one.

Why is this anonymous? Obvious trolling.

    St Francis de Sales:
Perfect Docility to the Inspirations of the Holy Spirit:

IX 234: Sermon for the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin, November 21, 1619:

"She came with an incomparable heart to give herself to God without reserve, and it seems that if she had dared, she would have willingly said to the good ladies who were raising these girls who were being dedicated to the Lord in the Temple: Here I am in your hands like a ball of wax, do with me whatever you wish, I will offer no resistance.

So she was so manageable and submissive that she let herself be turned by every hand without ever showing any desire for this or that, making herself so condescending that she raptured in admiration."

From the Rule of St. Benedict: "-For monks should not even have their bodies and wills in their own power."
    Chapter XXXIII
This raises the question:  What is femininity?

St Augustine famously gave a homily where he spoke to fathers and said - my fellow bishops.  Fathers are definitely the priests of the household, if you want to debate the use of bishop.  Wives have no such religious description.

Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord:
23 Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. He is the saviour of his body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things.  --Eph 5:22-24

There is only 1 head of the Church, Christ.
There is only 1 head of the family, the Husband.

The Church is less than Christ, just as the wife is less than the husband.  Christ created the church, therefore He is greater.  The husband creates the marriage and family, therefore he is greater.
