  • Absolutely!  I know mothers who do sewing projects for other families, sell cooked meals and desserts, write and sell books or poetry, work as secretaries/accountants from home, and tutor other people's children.  :-)

  • Nurse, Teacher, Nanny - these are typical jobs that women are naturally good at.  But, really, do whatever interests you as long as 1) you keep debt to a minimum and 2) pick your job with the idea that it will be temporary until you get married...assuming that's your vocation.

  • Stay at home mom, domestic engineer, housewife, homeschooling mom. Seriously, the pay is lousy but the benefits are out of this world.

As a mom, who after juggling jobs and two kids in school, I stayed home after the third was born. The kids are grown and on their own. They always told me and tell me, they were glad I did stay home. They compare where they are at today and where their friends are.

As a stay at home mom, I networked with other young moms in and out of the workforce to provide emergency childcare, meals for new moms and housework. Our church also helped recycle clothes, maternity and children's. There is lots to do.

    Good answers.

Keep debt to a minimum, and don't get caught up in tunnel vision for your "career" and overlook the man (or men) God sends into your path to be potential husbands for you. In other words, treat your "career" as something you're doing to kill time until God sends you a spouse.

And if you are considering a religious vocation, what are you waiting for? It's not like God has to send a Mother Superior to your door to invite you to a convent. If you're looking into a vocation, then by all means get busy! There are only so many Traditional options, but you have to go to them. Make it happen.

As for specific careers, you can pick any of them WHICH DO NOT CONTRADICT, DAMAGE, OR DESTROY a woman's basic femininity. So the careers of Firefighter, police officer, soldier, construction worker, truck driver, etc. are OUT. Other jobs take such a commitment (time and money), that they are not advisable: scientist, lawyer, doctor. Go for a lower-end version, like paralegal or nurse instead. A man can pursue these, because he will be working for a living his whole adult life. A woman only works until she has children.

Women are concerned with things domestic: children, household finances, taking care of weak things (animals, children, elderly). So caregiving, accounting jobs work well with feminine nature. And in a normal world, women teach their children (homeschooling is the most natural thing in the world), so teaching jobs are good.

When evaluating a career, just ask yourself if an ideal traditional woman, say in the 1850's, would want to do your job. If not, then ask yourself why and strongly reconsider. When it comes to work, women have always been up for cooking, cleaning, mending, secretarial, bookkeeping, teaching, nursing, gardening, and tending animals. Why reject that, unless you're after some Freemasonic, anti-God brave new world like the Modern World is?
