  • "Tragedy" by The Bee Gees

(You'll have to type some of this in your browser, because of how this site breaks URLs)

The music is very compelling, though the beat appeals to the lower nature I suppose. There is melody and harmony, and the lyrics line up perfectly with the beat. And the singer's unique voice adds to the whole package. I like how he holds a note for several seconds, and with passion.

And it makes you want to dance!  :dancing:

  • Sorry. I can't (won't) listen to or watch a video of those people.

At least one of the members of the group was in the news for having a child out of wedlock with a housekeeper.

Yes, the beat of songs like those appeals to the lower nature; that is yet another reason why music (so-called) like that should be avoided at any cost by faithful Catholics.

'Artists' like these revel in their fame, their wealth, their debauchery and their wide-spread appeal to people who do not accord Our Lord the worship and honor that He is certainly due.

If you want to grow spiritually, it's no different than the way a person grows physically (at least by way of analogy): you can't put 'junk food' into the system and expect it to work the way it should. Besides being nutritionally deficient, junk food often has preservatives or other ingredients that are carcinogens or contribute to the onset of other diseases.

Besides being SPIRITUALLY deficient, 'pop' music often has ingredients (like the lifestyles and public examples of the artists) that are dangerous for Christians to be exposed to.

If you wouldn't hang out with them or their friends, if you wouldn't behave the way they do, if you wouldn't recite their lyrics in a prayer group or in a church, why on earth would you listen to their songs any other time?

St. Cecilia, lover of music and of Our Lord, pray for us; may the Holy Ghost inspire 'melody in our hearts' unto Our Lord God.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Which, obviously, cannot be said of any classical composers or musicians...

  • Clare, as always your British relativism is a big yawn.

    The real "tragedy" is that...
1 on a traditional Catholic forum some liberal propagates the sick eunuch chorus "Bee Gees".
2 the very sound rebuke (2nd post, thanks to the author!) is being downplayed and ridiculed by the forum's chronic relativist. Who's actually so bored with The Unbearable Lightness of Being that one liberal British forum is not enough for her, and so she just has to constantly insult our anti-liberal minds even on this anti-liberal Cathinfo with her sad, silly and boring verbal flakes.

This liberal rotting of the modern Catholic minds just underlines why the world is ripe for the purification through the upcoming Chastisement. And by allowing this Chastisement God will grant us an incredible act of mercy. Well, most sound Catholics including priests and bishops can hardly wait. Yes, probably most of us will die. But at least those who survive can live a Catholic live.

    E.

So let me get this straight...you don't like them because they're a "sick eunuch chorus", but apparently one of them had a child out of wedlock.

Both of those things can't be true. Eunuchs are sterile.

Your "you" is two different posters, although not surprisingly both are named "Guest". What's in a name?

  • I was only talking to the author of the 2nd quote. I can see how it could have been misunderstood.
