  • What are your thoughts on the ever - popular American Girl doll series for our daughters? Can they be a good toy choice for girls?

  • Certainly. They are attractive, have realistic body shapes, and many of them are traditional. What's not to like about them?

Having done a quick Google search, I suppose some of them have skirts that are too short, or the girls wear pants. But you can find good traditional ones.

A couple of our girls had a couple of the Target rip-off versions of these dolls.

We don't do "barbie", "bratz", "monster high" or any series like that. The girls have to be shaped in a realistic manner, and portray a Catholic ideal of femininity and modesty. Otherwise, forget it. Why help brainwash my girls with the spirit of the world?

They look fine to me, too:

While there are now more than 50 different dolls “living” in different times of contemporary American life, the original six — Felicity, Kirsten, Josefina, Addy, Samantha and Molly — paved the way for a multi-billion dollar enterprise. But how realistic did the look of the doll fit the personality of its owner?

  • I used to receive advertisements in the mail for these dolls all the time when my girls were at the age where they might have been interested in them.  The cost, however, was well above anything we could have possibly afforded at the time.

  • I would agree that these dolls are very nice, but yes, very expensive.

Hence the reason we went with the rip-off version of them.

  • First: Target is pro-gαy
Second: be wary of rip-offs as there is a chance for them coming from Chinese labour camps or sweat shops.

Fellow Anon, I trust your ISP (or any other business you patronize for that matter) is in no way connected to pro-fag orgs, lest you turn out to be some hypocrite whose only real interest was taking a swipe at Matthew. Because that wouldn't be scuмbag behavior or anything.

Wrt American Girl / similar concept dolls, so long as nothing about these toys in themselves presents a real doctrinal or moral problem, what case can be made against them? Except perhaps some ultra-rigorist neo-Jansenist diatribe.

  • Just look for quality used ones online. That way even if it's sweat shop made, deed was done and not contributing to the demand by buying new.

We just found an almost brand new bitty baby doll in Value Village. This baby cost like 40 dollars from the American Girl catalog and were able to purchase it for 2.99. My daughter and I were very happy for the finding!.  :rahrah:
