  • Especially min 55:00, talks about crying it out, toddlers, and whether “coddling” can be problematic.

  • In the good ole days, ha, my mother had a large mirror off a dresser.  She put it up to a wall and the baby bed up to it.  The baby saw itself and kept the baby busy, while mom saw dad off to work and us kids getting ready for school and to meet the bus. The beds had the bars/slats. I guess it worked, because that was the 6th child that I recall.

Sometimes it is cold turkey to let the child cry.  That is fine.  They are not hurting, just getting your attention.  After awhile they should get the idea.  Maybe set an alarm clock.  When the clock goes off, then pick up the baby.  They might get the idea.

  • This video is very pertinent to this conversation in many ways.  https://tinyurl.com/4489h282
    Thank you for sharing this!

It was encouraging to listen to as I have been up at least twice every night for the past several nights with one or two of our little boys.  Thank you whooping cough.  😅

At least they have been generally not too hard to get back to sleep. 🥰

I love the mirror trick!  That I brilliant!  🤩

We do sleep training but in small increments when they are little. At first 5 minutes, then 10 and then 15.  That way they always know we will come and get them if they really need anything but we give them a chance to settle a bit.  🥰

I remember hearing that most Europeans don't rush to their babies as soon as they wake up.  They give them a few minutes to resettle and then if they haven't gone back to sleep then they get the babies.  I found that around 6 months if we had the baby in our room I would grab the baby at every little peep he made.  So, I usually have to move them to a different room right next to ours where I can still hear them I they are crying but not every little sound they make.  Can you tell that I am a little sleeper?  😉
