  • My hubby constantly insists on going to Mass every Saturday. Even if we have events planned where we have to travel somewhere. He says that if we arrive late so what. He says that the priest needs a server for that Mass and that only men can lead the devotions in church that they do after Mass. Can a woman at least lead the devotions once and the priest say Mass without a server for once? Most attendees at the SAT morning Mass are elderly.

  • Saturday's are for Our Lady.  Many times it's hard to make it to mass during the week (if there is one; many times there is not), so Saturday masses are a great devotion.  Mass should never 'get in the way' of other things.  But in our crazy world, it often does.  Offer it up, obey your husband quietly, and think of the graces you're getting.

  • All people have a duty of state which they must respect. That is especially important for a father and mother.  So if you have a long journey that is hard on the children or on a pregnant mother then yes he should take these factors into consideration when planning the start  time. As a father that is his duty. Otherwise for frivolous events like a picnic or grocery shopping these shouldn't take from a Saturday mass

  • This is tricky because one Mass missed for inconvenience turns into never going to Mass.  That's how it happened with my husband.

Be grateful your husband wants to go to frequent Mass.  Mine lost his faith and violates many Commandments now.  It's tragic.
