  • Whether posted by a member, or by an Anonymous Guest, I invite everyone to post links to offending posts here.

Notice I'm posting this in the Anonymous subforum, so you can anonymously report bad posts. No need to have somebody get mad at you and thumb down a bunch of your posts.

I'm going to leave the "reports" here, so everyone can see how many times bad posts have been removed over the coming days and weeks.

Any posts in this thread that are NOT a report will be instantly deleted. This is not a thread for discussion, debate, criticism, or even praise!

If this thread sits empty, I'll have to conclude we don't really have a problem with uncharitable Guest posts after all.

    Thanks for your efforts Matt.

Did you ever find the moderator you were looking for previously?

No, I never took the step to bring one in.

I think I got a couple of offers, but right away I implemented the "CAPTCHA" and with one stroke sealed up the flood of spam.

Then the next problem became "uncharitable posts" which I've since cracked down on. Some of the early posts -- calling out various members, garbage/silly posts, etc. -- would be deleted much more quickly if they were made today.

But asking Tele whether he prefers "creamy" or "chunky" peanut butter isn't a crime. If someone wants to post something silly like that -- a 20 questions for Tele personally -- that's fine. If Tele wants to answer such a post, I guess that's fine too. People will get to know him better.

Well, I must report this thread, in which case, lest anyone think I have no problem with its uncharitable Guest posts.

  • If anyone hasn't noticed, this topic:

    http://www.cathinfo.com/index.php/AUNTY-CHRIST

is pretty much full of "uncharitable posts".  Posters are making a multitude of accusations of crimes, sins, and perversions against a number of specific persons without giving any evidence--even their own anonymous witness.  They simply assert that this traditional priest or that traditional bishop is a pervert or is protecting a pervert, etc.

I thought sedevacantist issues were supposed to be confined to the Crisis forum.  But, I guess, if one desires use foul language (dutifully using ***'s) and condemn individuals as criminals and perverts in the most digusting terms possible, then the Guest Forum is the place to do so.

I looked at it, and though I'm sure the topic didn't "make your day", I can't say it's a bunch of angry name-calling. It seemed to be genuine criticism and discussion of your online behavior.

Matthew, I kindly ask you to explain why you think it is acceptable to have this in a Catholic Forum.

I think one reason is that Matthew himself also finds it convenient to have the capability to post sensitive statements/questions that will not be associated with his name.

    I can answer for myself.

I wanted people to be able to ask sensitive questions without undue embarrassment.

Before I created this new subforum, I had actually encountered several posts on the main forum that would qualify as good "Anonymous" posts. So I can tell there's a need for such a feature.

So far I have not availed myself of the new Anonymous Posts subforum, but I can't say that I'll never want to.

Many of Telesphorus' posts where he refers to women, 'spics' and priests as dirty, liars and much worse.

This can't be news to you of course. You must have read many of them. I'm not adding any links because there are too many.

Matthew, I kindly ask you to explain why you think it is acceptable to have this in a Catholic Forum. By the way,  I'm not the only one bothered by this.....I'm sure several others would also very much like to know.

I know this thread is not for anything else then reporting but please do post something about this in the General Discussions section.

    Thank you

God gave Telesphorus a throat and vocal chords too -- do you think Tele never mentions this stuff IRL or on the phone?

Telesphorus will answer for every idle word at the Judgement, nevermind every uncharitable word -- just like each one of us.

If God gives Telesphorus the freedom to sin, who am I to go around deleting posts because I deem them inappropriate or sinful?

If I delete all real or perceived sins from this forum, CathInfo (or any other forum) would be pretty empty.

That having been said, I try to delete the worst of it. If there are any posts that are obviously angry, with harsh words, swear words, etc. I would probably delete them if I saw them today.

Sometimes I leave a "bad" post because the person deserves the downvotes they will get. If I delete the post, they won't get any downvotes. But all too few people take advantage of the feature, I'm afraid...

I didn't open the website to which this referred, but I think it is probably safe to say that this is most certainly an uncharitable posting and another reason why the anonymous forum is not a real good idea.

It's pretty mild. The plain text of plenty a registered user is far worse than that graphic from a guest.
