  • I was at the TLM and I saw two people pass in front of the Blessed Sacrament without genuflecting.

    TROLL ALERT

An if by chance you are not a troll:

Everybody complains about abuses at the Novus Ordo masses. However last week I saw some shoddy behavior at the TLM. Two people walked across the front of the church in front of the Blessed Sacrament without genuflecting. You would have thought that they thought they were in a zoo looking for the zebras. I wonder what the priest is on this.

I don't think it is a big deal. Hopefully they just forgot they were supposed to genuflect. Sometimes I forget to genuflect when I go to Mass, though I never do it on purpose. It is also possible they are from the Novus Ordo and they simply don't know you are supposed to genuflect. When I saw the thread title I thought the abuses described would be greater like them having altar girls or giving communion in the hand.

  • There are times when it is so difficult to genuflect because of physical problems but even then you should pause and bow your head to show your belief in the Blessed Sacrament.  God knows your heart and others that notice what they perceive as a lack of respect can be judged by God with their distraction.

    2. God knows the identity of each and every post in this subforum. And He has a perfect recall of everything you've ever posted on CathInfo and every other forum. And every idle word you've uttered, for that matter! He even knows what you say to individual members in the PM system.

God also knows, and will expose, those who operate in secret (hiding behind public anonymity).  He knows their motives.  Those who deceive and hide are not speaking with the blessing of God, as God is Truth.

I did not even see that.

  • People who forget or for whatever reason do not genuflect is not an abuse at the TLM.

It's actually none of your business what others do or don't do - keep your focus on the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle on the altar or read the Mass prayers in your prayer book or prepare for the Holy Sacrifice you are about to participate in as your only focus and you won't notice such trivial distractions.

Holy Cow!  This is serious!  I agree with Stubborn again!  That's twice in less than a month  :scared2:

  • We recently attended diocesan Latin Mass and was surprised by the number of women who wore pants and didn't wear chapel veil or hat.  This was just an observation.   Excellent sermon by the priest.  Mass was very holy.  We go to Mass for to assist and receive communion.

  • My purpose in posting this was not to be a busybody. Rather what I wanted to do is to ask all the people to be aware of where they are and in whose presence they are as they walk across the church of the TLM, especially when you are in the front of the church.
Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. You are not in a zoo. If you look off in the distance you will not see any giraffes or polar bears. Jesus is truly present n the Blessed Sacrament front and center. You should genuflect. If you have bad knees or something like that then at least stop and bow or even just stop and make the sign of the cross. Jesus deserves all of our respect and devotion.

Dominicans often do not genuflect, but bow, except when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.  And the elderly or those with certain disabilities are told to bow instead of genuflect.

If you're in a diocesan parish staffed with post-1968 "ordained" prietenders, it's pretty close to it.
