So this Sunday I went to Mass and a pretty young girl sat next to me. She was wearing pants and a scarf around her neck, but no head covering. She was the only woman at Mass without her head covered. When it was time to go to communion I was hoping she wouldn't go to communion like that. But she gets up to go to communion and then she takes her scarf and covers her head and goes to communion. As soon as she comes back from communion she takes the scarf off of her head and for the rest of the Mass her head remains uncovered.
Once when I was one of the first inside the (sspx) chapel, I was standing in the vestibule looking at the rosaries and pamphlets etc. before confession and Mass, a lady (not pretty) came out from behind a divider and seemed anxious about something as she was searching the vestibule for a veil - she was also wearing, are you ready for this - pants.
I introduced myself after she asked in a worried tone if they would allow her in without a veil.
I jokingly replied they will drag her out by her hair for that offense - bad joke as for a split second she thought I was serious - but then she seemed a little bit relieved after I explained with a smile that the matter was not *that* serious.
This lady was new to tradition and "fell into" this chapel where the true Mass was celebrated, and there was no doubt in my mind that she would have assisted at it if she had to do it from peeking in the stained glass window.
Long story short, we hung out in the vestibule talking about the TLM etc. until one of the ladies with 48 kids came in who happily borrowed her a veil from one of her kids.
They spoke for a brief moment while the parade of kids came in after they introduced themselves to each other, the lady went to confession and Mass and everything.
From then on, whenever I saw her, she always wore a veil and a skirt.
Bottom line is people these days are so screwed up with everything that's going on that they don't know how to dress properly for Church any more - if they ever did, so cut them some slack and with understanding, help them. They'll figure it out quickly.
