  • Yes, define! Do you mean "poor" and "enrich" to be a credit to the individual or a shortcoming?? We could discuss it either way.

    One might also say....

The poorer we are outwardly the more we enrich ourselves inwardly.

Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
    ~James 1:27

I suspect you thought it was me, but I wouldn't be caught dead posting a dancing banana.

OP here. This quote does not describe those who truly live the Beatitudes, and adhere to Christ's Sacred Heart and our Blessed Mother's Immaculate Heart, rather, it describes those who belong to the world - even some of those who claim to subscribe to the Faith.

  • The poorer we are inward the more we want to enrich ourselves outward.

It's a novus ordo slam against the TLM.

The really poor outward appearance of the novus ordo reflects the great interior devotion of the novus ordites...  ...forget the abortions and the divorces and the really small families and the general spence of indifference, the poverty of the novus ordo is the spiritual beauty of the novus ordite.  That's the gist.

It might even be a statement that originated from the "Humble One."

Me too. True humility, a sadness for the condition of man, crying as you read the psalms, a hope for better; despising our sins.

    Ah well.

  • What that means is that a life without god and filled with sin leaves you empty and poor within.

  • OP again. In other words, it means when you see a person driving an expensive, jazzy car; wearing top name-brand clothes; has the latest tech gadget each time a new one is put out; defines him or herself on how much $ is in their accounts or by how much they earn; etc.... then there is a high probability the person is poor inwardly.
