    Bloody hell.

I used to use the computer for a maximum of 4 hours accuмulated time each day. When Lent came, I decreased it to 2. Then, when lent finished, and holidays began, I blasted away scoring probably an average of 5-6 hours accuмulated time on the computer each day, sometimes even hitting 9 hours! Now I think I'm on the verge of addiction, and I need to fix the problem fast. I want to go back to 2 hours a day so I can find other things to do.

Anyone else struggled with this? Any suggestions?

The word addiction implies that it's a medical condition. This is the function of the proliferation of that word today in this materialist world. It takes the matter out of our control and places it in the hands of materialist "experts." We thus become the slaves of these "experts."

In truth, it's not a medical matter, a chemical matter, a material matter. It's an ethical, spiritual matter. You lack the virtue of temperance. It's within your control - within the power of your will, joined with prayer - to correct this.

  • No. I am in front of a computer for approximately 20 hours a day. When I am asleep, my laptop is on the bed next to me, on, playing a scriptural rosary recording I have. I don't think I am addicted. Of course, I worked with computers for over a decade, hardware and software, I have studied binary logic quite thoroughly, and really love them. If I could transfer my consciousness into a computer I think I would in a nanosecond.

That was a pretty good Star Trek episode, wasn't it?  :smirk:

    Why just daughters?
The house I grew up in had the TV on pretty much any time anyone was awake. I didn't get away from it until I went to college!  :surprised:  :smirk:

It's very harmful for boys and girls, but it is directed primarily at girls and women, and seems to influence them more than it influences boys.

My mother watches very little TV, and never has, almost no regular programming. (local news in the morning for a few minutes sometimes) She'll watch old reruns with my father, that's about it.

However when we grew up we had the TV a huge proportion of the time.  She just wasn't watching it.
