Bishop Daniel Dolan and Fr. Anthony Cekada
St. Gertrude the Great Church in Ohio
The following is dedicated to, and inspired by, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada. It is my hope that Fr Cekada, who is well-known as an accomplished satirist, will appreciate my modest attempt thereat. I also hope it is received in the spirit in which it is offered. The text is meant to harmonize with the music from "My Country, Tis of Thee", which tune was borrowed from "God Save the King/Queen." If I may offer a suggestion: sing aloud as you read the text. Such makes the process immeasurably more enjoyable. God speed.
Ode to Reality
St Gertrude's, SGG,
Cult where hypocrisy
Reigneth supreme.
Cult where truth is suppressed,
But all are nicely dressed,
Linens are starched and pressed:

Long overdue.
Bogus humility,
Fake is your charity,

Convent, church, rectory:
At peak they sold all three.
Still ask for more money.
Where'd that dough go?
Toxic smoke, mushroom cloud,

Let's drop any pretense,
You use the Sacraments
As weapons in "defense"
'gainst those who see.
School rules out the ying-yang,
but if you're in 'The Gang'
They don't apply.
Thug kids threaten adults?
Complain? Get NO results.
Well, friends, as in all cults,
They just don't care.
School kids allowed to smoke,
The place is such a joke,
I wanna puke.
They'd sell YOUR soul for gain,
That much as day is plain.

There is so much more that could and needs to be said about the truly vaudevillian world of 'virtual Catholicism' that I have come to call sgg.org/cult. For now, the above will have to suffice. Fr Cekada, I hear you are presently on vacation - as always, together with Bp Dolan, with whom you also work and live. It is truly heart-warming and edifying to see such an almost-incomprehensible spirit of togetherness among our clergy. My advice to you, Father, is similar to that you gave me while on vacation in Florida, when you calumniated me publicly in a virtuoso display of commie-style character assassination: "Stay there!" As for the sure-to-come accusations that I have sinned and/or harmed the Traddie cause/camp in circulating this poem/song, I shall receive any and all in the spirit they are offered. Ladies, I ask you to remember that men, by nature, do not deal with such situations as women do - nor should they. As for potential lawsuits, I fear not. I am a nobody, possessing neither property nor a family of my own - and, as Fr knows, the use of the Sacraments as a weapon against me is ineffectual nonsense. After all, this piece is just satire, right? In addition, Fr Cekada kindly loaded my own gun more than six months ago, should I desire to sue for defamation and libel. I have refrained from taking legal action, as I have refrained from involving the appropriate authorities, for my own reasons. I shall refrain no longer where the authorities are concerned, unless, of course, there is a genuine and public response commensurate with the harm done to so many over the years. If such is forthcoming, I shall gladly become a loyal and vocal supporter of those involved. God does not seek the death of the sinner, but that he turn and live. LIVE, gentlemen. LIVE!

Well Eamon, accusing a Bishop and priest of homosexuality, of misappropriation of funds....of being purely utilitarian in their doctrinal stances, is a sure sign of ??, especially when backed up with nothing substantial.
I don't know you, but I know of you, and it certainly seems that where you are, trouble is. I honestly don't understand how you think your recent accusations and public statements are accomplishing anything good. It appears that your remarks are only causing confusion and anger. Was that your intent?
Please, I know enough about the people and circumstances at Saint Gertrude's to know that most of your complaints are the results of your hurt feelings.
Eamon, you are an extremely bright fellow, I like that. But one of the dangers of intelligence is over extending yourself. A few tips...
Eamon, please stop this. Perhaps some time away from public forums that encourage you to polemic and controversy? Maybe you should give up this form of communication all together?

William, perhaps you would be willing to prove exactly how you know so much about the author of 'Ode to Reality'?
Oddly enough, what you have written about G_V can be quite easily applied to the characters in his 'Ode'. Particularly the confusion and anger, with say Terri Schaivo's death.

Hi Will, actually you said you knew about this poster's reputation, and described his hurt feelings and rage, and mentioned that you know about SGG but no matter, really.
I do agree that it is fair to ask for proof of how such information is known. But, as a satire piece I guess it's up to the reader to decide what was said in jest, or inferred.

Hello Elizabeth,
I know about his reputation the same way that anyone knows about anyones reputation.
My sentiments about his feelings are a response to his postings that have the hallmarks of a man who feels spurned......accusations without proof, obvious anger (justified or not), and numerous accusations that seemed rather petty. Those are judgements I have made from his public statements. He could be telling the truth...but he isn't doing anything to demonstrate it. He is only creating an internet side show thats sole purpose is to bring harm to others (namely Father Cekada and Bishop Dolan).
I just want to hear the evidence if its there. If not, then I think the arguement is over before it begins.

I don't get the feeling you're a simple parishioner -- because WHY would you care so much about Eamon and his words/works? And don't give me your ready-made excuse "I was purely concerned with the salvation of souls" because you are spending WAY too much time on this, you PMed me beseeching me to remove your location information, etc.
Perhaps you are somewhat concerned for souls, etc. but I can tell there's a very strong HUMAN element to this which motivates you.
I think you might be one of the priests/laymen involved.

William, well then maybe Gladius_Vertitatis knows the reputation of the two clergy, and has made a satire piece out of it.
Often, laughter is the best medicine.
You'd have to admit that satire and wit are practically trademarks of the SGG clergy.

Your wrong on numerous counts.
I am not one of the clergy being spoken of. That is now settled.
I am not a parishioner. I never said I was. That is now settled.
I care because I admire both Father Cekada and Bishop Dolan immensely. They have helped my in my studies and faith, and for that I am indebted.
I care because people are accusing my friends of being homosexuals, thiefs, and Liars. I feel the need to defend them, just as some apparently feel the need to de-fame them. It seems that no one is stunned that we have men on this forum accusing a bishop and priest of the most vile of acts, and offering absolutely zero proof...but many are stunned that I am here actually protesting such behaviour.
You are reading into everything way to much Chant. I just don't like people insulting men I admire.
I want these people to back up what they say. Period.

Elizabeth, GV has said that all he has written publicly is true. Its no longer just satire. And yes, Father Cekada is known for his biting satire..but I have yet to see him use it to accuse others of being homosexuals, thiefs, and downrite evil men.
As it stands we have people hurling accusations about with absolutely no proof. I am here to point this out, and see if there is any bite to this dog. If there is, so be it. If there is not, then let the liars be exposed.
I am quite frankly amazed that no one is troubled by the posting of salacious material about clergy with absolutely no evidence, from a person who clearly has an axe to grind. GV may be right, be he has done absolutely nothing to demonstrate this.
